Boer Nation: Boerenkrijgslied

Boer Nation

Boerenkrijgslied
Boer Battle Song (Bach Choir)
"Above video contains original visual material from the Boer War"

Boers sang this song
Before Every Battle
with the British Colonial
capitalist forces

Boer War 1899-1902

Dutch victory song
which Boers inherited from their European forefathers

originally called:  'Merck toch hoe sterck'

Boers adapted lyrics
& called song:  'Boerenkrijgslied'

ie 'Boer Battle Song'

Sung for first time
in 1622
by the inhabitants of
besieged town Bergen op Zoom
when it was victoriously relieved from the Spanish invaders by Dutch forces
in a battle during the Eighty Year War (1568 - 1648)
Netherlands v. Spain

first whites landed
at Cape of Good hope
8th April 1652
Boers descendants of European
Calvanist dissenters who arrived in Africa in search of freedom

BRITISH CAPITALIST DESTROYERS

First wave of British came: 1820

British capitalist concentration camps

killed almost 28,000 Boer civilians
  • about quarter of all those held captive by the British
  • almost one-sixth of the entire Boer population
    • British capitalist land clearance policy
    • British capitalist program of decertification
    • British capitalist program of burning Boer farms to the ground, slaughter of animals
    British Capitalist Empire was vast
number of troops that could be raised, trained & sent
    to Africa was almost limitless
Boers lost x7 more of their women and children

than their men when fighting British Capitalist

Armed blacks worked with British army to kill, rape & put Boers into British capitalist concentration camps

    Anglo-Boer War
British capitalist soldiers armed black servants
and raped 35% of the Boer women in the Boer Republics

    [Dr Wilhalem Vallentin, 1902]

    British capitalist officers in Pretoria
    would take young Boer girls
    (as young as 10 & 11)
from Irene British Capitalist Concentration Camp
to use Boer girls as sex slaves

15% of the Boer population died

in the British capitalist concentration camps

Most of the Boer civilians who died

in the British capitalist concentration camps
were children under the age of 16

Half the total population of Boer children of the republics

died in the British capitalist concentration camps

The British capitalist troops destroyed the Boers in 1902
    Boers lost their independence
ever since, the British capitalists controlled their diamond & gold mines

    British capitalist administration implemented Apartheid
the Cape Afrikaners wrote it into law & gave black territories
Different tribes settled in South Africa (white and black)
    and settled in open land

    • British capitalist troops conquered them
    • British capitalists stole everyone's land
    • British imperialists still in control

PM Hendrik Verwoerd was not a friend of the Boer nation
he was there to amalgamate everything into the one economic sphere

PM D.F. Malan was also a traitor to the Boer nation

PM Hans Strijom was a supporter of Boers
/ believe strongly he was killed

/ due to discussing restoration of Boer republics
    / likely poisoned

    Boer Wars

    Boers

    Dutch/German for 'farmer'

    Great Britain wins Napoleonic Wars

    Napoleonic Wars (1799-1815)

    Napoleon Bonaparte
    France
    vs. Europe
Battles extensive ... no time to read
    http://www.britannica.com/event/Napoleonic-Wars
"Britain’s ultimate success against Napoleon, like its importance in this period as a whole, owed much to its wealth—its capacity to raise loans through its financial machinery and revenue through the prosperity of its inhabitants and the extent of its trade. But British success also owed much to the power of its navy and to the energy and aggressiveness of its ruling class, which was particularly apparent in the imperial expansion of this period."

"Every major war Britain engaged in during this period increased its colonial power. The Seven Years’ War was particularly successful in this respect, and so were the Napoleonic Wars. Between 1793 and 1815 Britain gained 20 colonies ..."

"By 1820 the total population of the territories it governed was 200 million, 26 percent of the world’s total population. Not all of these acquisitions were formally directed by London. Captain James Cook’s explorations of Australia and New Zealand after 1770 were in part an exercise in private enterprise and scientific inquiry. Nonetheless, British settlement of Australia at New South Wales began in 1787, in part because the mother country needed another repository for transported convicts previously sent to the North American colonies. The East India Company also retained considerable initiative in its military strategies. In 1819 Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles seized Singapore for the company and not on London’s instructions. But, however acquired, all these acquisitions added to Britain’s power and reputation. It was no accident, perhaps, that its two national anthems, “God Save the King” and “Rule Britannia,” were composed in this period. For the privileged and the rich, this was preeminently an era of confidence and arrogance."

    COMMENT

The info about the British ascendency during period of various European wars was really interesting.  It looks like this is where the British gain most of their colonies.

The list of Napoleonic battles looks really interesting.  Something to check out, when I get around to it during my travels.

    Military - Suppressive Fire

    Military - Suppressive Fire

    Military psychology
    sub-branch of different psychology disciplines

    • research
    • design
    • application
    of psychological theories
    • understanding, predicting, and countering behaviours
    • in friendly or enemy forces (or civilian)
    • which may potentially be undesirable to military ops
provides tools -  survive stresses of war

    military confront specific combination

    (of otherwise generic) stressors

    military psychology studies unique
    blend of stresses
    applicable to military

    psychological trauma

    • flashbacks
    • PTSD
    • sleep disturbance
    • relationship problems
    Tactical psychology
contact with enemy / front-line soldier
    combines psychology & historical analysis

    devise tactics to make enemy:
    • freeze
    • flee
    • panic
     instead of fight
    eg. 'suppressive fire'
    suppressive fire
    aka covering fire

one of (3) three TYPES of fire support
only effective for duration of fire
fire + is coordinated with manoeuvre of forces

    (destroy, neutralise or suppress)

    formerly known as 'neutralisation'

    neutralisation
=  now NATO-defined as fire to render target temporarily f*cked

    • ie pinned down, unable to respond due to the intensity of fire
    suppressive fire
-- is force which threatens casualties to those exposed

-- willingness to expose depends on:
    •     - morale
    •     - motivation
    •     - leadership
-- suppressive fire used as covering fire

Suppressive fire can be used against:
-- protection of troops w/in range of enemy small arms
        (ie covering fire)
-- indirect firers [the following, I think?]:

    •     - mortars
    •     - artillery
    •     - ships
    •     - aircraft
    -- enemy air defences
-- other activities: eg construction, logistics
    -- for temporary area denial

*unsuitable for prolonged area denial b/c ammo supply constraints

    Non-lethal suppression:
    -- smoke to blind enemy
-- night:  illumination to deny enemy cover

    Suppressive weaponry:
-- any capable of intensity of fire for required period suppression
-- but bullet has less suppressive power than artillery shell
    -- bullet has 1 metre w/in trajectory
-- artillery shell covers wider range when exploding
-- small arms fire sustained suppression - limit:  few minutes
-- air delivered suppression likewise limited by payload limits

*ARTILLERY can suppress area for extended period

    Purpose:

stop enemy observing, shooting, moving or carrying out military tasks

    Features:
-- suppressive fire only effective while it lasts
-- & if it has sufficient intensity
-- enables covered (vulnerable, on the move) forces to advance to new positions etc, while enemy / target is rendered unable to act b/c of the suppressive fire

    Entry says:  Marines Tactic

(but I think this is likely common military tactic)
    communication + suppressive fire
    enables movement on battlefield

Used to extract troops from battle zone:
    1.  helicopter
    2.  boat  (hot extraction)

    Suppressive fire
    -- psychological tactic
    -- targets keep heads down
-- (depending on variables) can result in target casualties & damage
-- used in close combat zone as covering fire

Suppressive fire - indirect fire systems:

    •     - mortars
    •     - artillery
    •     - ships
    •     - aircraft
-- important consideration is safety of troops
-- 'fragmenting munitions' indiscriminate & lethal in all directions

    Suppressive Fire Tactics
-- first used in the Boer War
    -- developed 1915 British WWI
-- unable to smash German trenches or destroy enemy artillery
-- employed artillery suppression fire techniques
-- suppressed enemy artillery to protect attacking infantry
    -- allowed infantry to advance
-- thereafter, suppression defining British artillery tactic
-- ammunition used by British:  shrapnel
    -- target was enemy artillery

Suppression by infantry direct fire weapons

-- usually only used v. targets without:
    • -- mutual support from adjacent positions
-- ammunition stocks only for several mins. of sustained firing

    Suppressive fire:
-- used WWII amphibious assaults (to enable troop landing)

    COMMENT

    That was good.

    It sounds really exciting.

So anyone who knows anything about the military would know that suppressive fire will last only a few minutes usually and that the other side is either advancing troops, pulling troops, or moving troops, and that it is largely a psychological tactic that can be countered (I think  ...  I haven't stumbled on the counter-offensive yet).
