WikiLeaks: AKP E-mails Released (Erdogan Ruling Party, Turkey)

WikiLeaks

Turkey ruling party AKP e-mails released

If you go into a translation site like Google translate, you can key in a search term and translate it to Turkish:

CIA casus gözetim
CIA spy surveillance

Then you can pull up the e-mails that contain the search term & do translations of the e-mails.

I've found reference to the CIA's Gladio operation, where it refers to Turkish gunmen shedding more blood to lend legitimacy to some coup (I think); some of those involved were imprisoned and some sent abroad for new tasks.

That was about the second e-mail I looked at.  Sounds like a background sketch, filling someone in on history, or something like that.  Related to Ruzi Nazar, American-Turkestani scumbag who worked for the CIA against the Soviet Union.

Ruzi, with some fellow Central Asians, joined the newly formed CIA when the former chief of the Nazi military intelligence department, Reinhard Gehlen, changed sides [edit: betrayed his nation] - along with his network in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

Nazar took an active part in establishing two radio stations sponsored by the CIA near Munich: Radio Free Europe, which targeted Eastern Europeans and Russians, and Radio Liberty, which targeted the Muslim Central Asia and the Caucasus.

I desperate need a shower and have a massive Chilli con Carne cook-up to do, so my searching for juicy CIA references in the AKP e-mails might have to wait ...  LOL

Military Coup Attempt in Turkey

Pepe Escobar

EXTRACT

Ankara’s official version is that the coup was perpetrated by a small military faction remote-controlled by exiled-in-Pennsylvania cleric Fethullah Gulen, himself a CIA asset. As much as responsibility remains debatable, what’s clear is the coup was a Turk remix of The Three Stooges; the actual stooges in fact may have been the already detained 2nd Army Commander Gen. Adem Huduti; 3rd Army Commander Erdal Ozturk; and former Chief of Air Staff Akin Ozturk.

As over-excited former CIA ops were blaring on US networks – and they do know a thing or two about regime change — rule number one in a coup is to aim at, and isolate, the head of the snake. Yet the wily Turkish snake, in this case, was nowhere to be seen. Not to mention that no top generals sounding convincingly patriotic went on the TRT state network to fully explain the reasons for the coup.

[...]

The head of the snake must have been 100% sure that to board his plane and stay on Turkish airspace was as safe as eating a baklava. What’s even more startling is that the Gulfstream managed to land in Istanbul in absolute safety in the early hours of Saturday morning – despite the prevailing notion that the airport was occupied by the “rebels”.

Boris Johnson unpopular in Liverpool

PRINT FRIENDLY

EMAIL STORY
Correspondents Report - Sunday, 24 October , 2004

Reporter: Kirsten Aiken

HAMISH ROBERTSON: Finally to Britain, where there's a tradition of enjoying the spectacle of high profile and opinionated public figures making complete fools of themselves.

Boris Johnson's attempts to rationalise the central point of an article in his magazine the Spectator, which attacked the people of Liverpool for over-reacting to the gruesome death of British engineer Ken Bigley in Iraq, included a visit to the home city of the Beatles to make a grovelling apology.

But as one newspaper later reported, Liverpudlians who'd been stung by the severity of the comments were split between those who loathed Boris Johnson and wished he'd go home, and those who loathed him and wished he'd never come in the first place.

Here's our London Reporter Kirsten Aiken.

KIRSTEN AIKEN: A taste for controversy is how the conservative Spectator magazine promotes itself. This past week it could be said to have satisfied a very large appetite after accusing Liverpudlians of too extreme a reaction following the beheading of one of their former residents, British engineer Ken Bigley, who was murdered by Iraqi insurgents earlier this month.

The magazine, edited by the Conservative frontbencher Boris Johnson, touted: "we've lost our sense of proportion about such things" – because a minute's silence was held to mark Ken Bigley's memory in an international football match in the days after the horrific incident.

And the anonymously written article didn't stop there.

"The fact that such a tribute was demanded emphasised the mawkish sentimentality of a society that has become hooked on grief and likes to wallow in a sense of vicarious victimhood."  [comment:  what an assh*le article.  This would be fair comment if he The Specator were talking about the anti European victimhood propaganda the state and corporate media propaganda machine pushes while pushing an agenda of European divestment, but the article's referring to the barbaric slaughter of an Englishman.]

It was too much for Liverpudlians, whose sporting fans were also accused of contributing to the Hillsboro football tragedy in which more than 50 people died.

[comment:  I've not read the article, but I'm assuming there was maybe a commemoration for the sporting fans that were killed in a crush?  Although (generally speaking) I find what you might call victimhood status generation and public displays of victimhood unattractive, the politicians and their corporate media scribes are first to use victimhood propaganda to shape public opinion, so why are they on the offensive in this instance?

Political reasons.  It involves Muslims who have been permitted to colonise and buy Britain.  Muslims who are actively encouraged by politicians and the government to invest money in Britain.  So this is about politicians pimping the heritage of Britons, in exchange for MONEY for the ruling elites.  Therefore, politicians are also invested in putting out any 'fires' that may potentially put at risk the monetary rewards the political and economic elites anticipate to receive, as they sell the heritage from under Britons. ]

Not sure what was going on with Boris Johnson in relation to Muslims back in 2004, but I expect as Mayor of the Muslim stronghold in Britain, it would have been much the same as today:  a desire for influence over an enormous Muslim settlement in London and a desire for MONEY  / INVESTMENT from Muslims abroad.

EDIT / COMMENT:
The biggest factor at play in Britain at that time would have been British politicians and media intent on disseminating propaganda to ensure continued illegal British military presence in Iraq, as the British Ruling Capitalists have sunk a total of £9.24 billion of British taxpayer money into the illegal Iraq war).

Mr Johnson announced a £100million fund to encourage tech start-ups from the Muslim world to move to Britain.

It comes after David Cameron unveiled a £200million new Islamic bond - known as a ‘sukuk’ - which complies with Islamic rules on investments and said the London Stock Exchange will launch a new Islamic index alongside the FTSE.

Thought the above couple of random articles might explain Johnson's political position.

I'm pretty sure Johnson is of Jewish origins.

Well, it appears that Boris Johnson can call up whatever part of his ancestry serves his political purpose.

It saw locals criticise Boris Johnson for a lack of tact and timing.

[ ...]

KIRSTEN AIKEN: A bumbling Boris Johnson did apologise for causing offence, but insisted he couldn't retract the thrust of the argument, which sought to point out an apparently new British trait of blaming others for one's misfortunes
[comment:  Boris Johnson's (and his magazine's) deliberate castigation affront to the Liverpool community's grief, in response to the barbaric murder of a Liverpudlian Englishmen, is POLITICALLY MOTIVATED.  This man is a pig, and so is the British government and its politicians, who have SOLD OUT ALL BRITONS for ARAB MONEY.   ]

Because Ken Bigley chose to work in one of the world's most dangerous places, against the advice of the foreign office, the article suggests he contributed to his death. It also sought to point out the true mark of maturity in civilization is to cut out ignorant sentimentality.  [comment:  Again, politicians and the British Foreign Office are quick to use 'sentimentality' when it serves their political proposes, selling war abroad or selling invasion at home.  F*cking assh*les.  Why is this journalist selling the VICTIM-BLAMING narrative of the British Foreign Office swine who sell out Britons EVERY DAY, IN EVERY WAY, as they destroy their ancestral homeland?  Australian news is cucked as.]

But timing, it seems, is everything – a point that wouldn't have escaped Boris Johnson as he later handed out prizes to children at an event titled 'Learn from our mistakes'.

Johnson comments that probably aren't politically motivated would be:

The remarks Johnson made about Papua New Guinea's cannibalism and chief killing, which are probably factually correct.  So I don't see the problem with that ... although it might be seen as tactless of a politician that is required to display grovelling Culturally Marxist sensibilities at all times.

'Watermelon smiles'?  Not sure what that's about, but there's a stereotyped association between Africans and watermelons (probably evolved in the American south).  However, I doubt Johnson's intent was to offend.

Judging by these remarks, Boris Johnson could prove an entertaining foreign minister.

Entertainment aside, Boris Johnson's appointment in such a senior and critical position, when he has an official history  of lying & of being sacked from the Tory front bench for lying, is of concern.

At first I was prepared to laugh off Johnson's extramarital-affair, as it's humorous and doesn't seem too important from what is a safe emotional distance of not having the misfortune to be involved with the cheating assh*le that is Boris Johnson.

Now I don't like this guy at all, and I don't trust him.

Boris Johnson's an anti-social whore in more ways than one and it is his potential political whoring and lying that is sure to come to the forefront of foreign affairs issues.
More on Johnson's lying, in case my Boris criticism appear too harsh:
" ...  what did we expect from a man who has been fired not once but twice for lying? In 1988 the young Johnson was sacked from The Times for fabricating a quote in an article, and in 2004 he was “relieved of his duties” as shadow arts minister of the Tory Party for allegedly lying about an extra-marital affair." [Independent]

Oh, look, the invasion of yet another European nation continues unabated, alongside empty politician promises:
"... pre-Brexit Johnson promised greater controls on the number of migrants entering the UK. Come Monday, he wrote that migrant numbers won’t fall. Instead the UK will introduce an Australian-style points based immigration system. The very system in which the economy, not the government sets immigration targets. In fact counties which have adopted a points-based system have higher levels of migration."  [Independent (as above)]
I feel sick in the stomach reading that.

So European nations are being destroyed for what they call 'the economy'?

Without a nation to speak of, what sense is there in the existence of an economy?

Boris Johnson is Anyone's

Ooooh, look ... Boris Johnson's Hasidic when it's politically expedient to be:

Boris Johnson Britain's
Scooting Skirt-chaser

Must keep an eye on naughty Boris  ;)

Think I might flip back to being pro-Boris ... he's being criticised by the Germans and the French, so that's a positive (and he was pro Brixit, so maybe that makes up for his philandering?  ... LOL).

Dislike the French and German politicians more than Johnson's whoring ... I think.

But being party to the implementation of an invasion of Britain and selling out the British for the sake of Arab money is harder to overlook.

[Fixing typos takes me forever, because I make more typos as I fix typos ... because I've got music blaring in my headphones & two senses don't work as effectively as one.  But I like it.  LOL
OMG ... pasting in a few small codes to house quotes has been a massive edit job because something was out of whack (probably my not removing all block code), so Blogger than spits out what it wants ... and it takes forever to fix.  Blogger's giving me anxiety, LOL   ]

Moscow confirms US expelled 2 Russian diplomats, initially asked to keep it secret

Published time: 9 Jul, 2016 15:31

Russia's Foreign Ministry has confirmed reports about US authorities expelling two Russian diplomats from Washington DC following an incident outside the US Embassy in Moscow on June 6, 2016, when a US diplomat was allegedly ‘beaten’ by Russian security staff.

“I can confirm that […] the US government did demand the departure of two employees of the Russian Embassy in Washington DC without presenting any complaints to the employees themselves. Furthermore, the State Department strongly asked us not to make this fact public. As you can see, it is customary for American diplomats to keep their word,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told the press, alluding to the publication on the incident in Washington Post.

The article claimed that a Russian guard “attacked and beat up a US diplomat who was trying to enter” the US Embassy in Moscow, citing “US officials who were briefed on the incident.”

“The American diplomat - or, more accurately, a CIA officer who worked under the embassy’s cover and was returning to the compound disguised after conducting an intelligence operation - attacked a police officer, who was carrying out his duty protecting the diplomatic mission,” Ryabkov explained.

“The video footage of the incident was shown on July 7 on NTV channel and speaks for itself – in the middle of the night a man wearing a knitted hat pulled low over his head, despite the fact it’s summer, jumps out of a taxi and rushes to the entrance of the embassy, without making any attempt to show his identity. When the guard rushes to intercept him in order to prevent a possible threat to the diplomatic mission, he hits the officer in the face with his elbow, which is, in fact, a criminal offense,” the official noted.

Ryabkov said the US agent who was involved in the incident had to be deported from Russia along with another CIA operative in response to similar actions targeting Russian diplomats.

“After their [the US authorities’] unfriendly step two employees of the US Embassy had to leave Moscow. They were declared ‘undesirable’ for activities incompatible with their diplomatic status. The very night hoodlum is one of them, along with another CIA operative,” Ryabkov said.

US authorities have denied that it was the US diplomat who provoked the incident on June 6.

“On the 6th of June, an accredited US diplomat, who identified himself in accordance with embassy protocols, entering the American embassy compound was attacked by a Russian policeman.

The action was unprovoked and it endangered the safety of our employee [...] The Russian claim the policeman was protecting the embassy from an unidentified individual is simply untrue,” US State Department spokesman John Kirby said at a daily press briefing on Friday, apparently contradicting the CCTV evidence.

“As difficult as it is to deny the obvious, the State Department continues to do so,” Ryabkov said.

“[Authorities] in Washington resort to specific actions, further exacerbating the atmosphere of bilateral relations, which the Obama administration has methodically been crushing for more than two years now, including attempts to undermine our economy and military threats. […]

“We do hope that Washington will come to realize the depravity of an aggressive anti-Russian line of action. If it decides, however, to move further along the path of escalation, [such policy] will not remain unanswered,” Ryabkov warned.

CIA agent attacked US Embassy guard in Moscow – Russian Foreign Ministry

Published time: 30 Jun, 2016 19:47

The US uses its media to spread outright lies about Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said, dismissing a report by the Washington Post about a ‘US diplomat’ 'beaten' by Russian security. In fact, it was a US spy who attacked a Russian police officer.

“US State Department and security services have been actively using the Washington Post for disseminating distorted information and outright lies about “harassment” of the US diplomats in Russia,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, commenting on a report by the US newspaper on the alleged beating of a US diplomat by Russian security staff.

The story in the report was completely made up, Zakharova said, dismissing the report published on June 29, in which the Washington Post claimed that a “Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) guard stationed outside the US Embassy in Moscow attacked and beat up a US diplomat who was trying to enter the compound.”

The ministry’s spokeswoman explained that, in reality, it was a US citizen who attacked a Russian security guard stationed outside the US embassy when the officer tried to check his ID.

“On the night of June 6, a taxi drove up to the US embassy in Moscow. A man with a hat drawn over his eyes jumped out of the car and rushed to the entrance. A police officer, who was on duty at the entrance, tried to check the ID of the suspicious man to ensure that there is no threat for the embassy,” Zakharova told journalists at a briefing on Thursday.

“Instead of letting the officer see his ID, the man hit him with an elbow in the face than pushed him away and fled
to the embassy,” she added, stressing that the Washington Post report “not only distorts the information but openly contradicts the facts.”

She also emphasized that the attack on the police officer was recorded by the CCTV cameras and presented to the US State Department “long ago,” with Russian Foreign Ministry filing a protest over the incident.

It was later revealed that the man who attacked the officer was in fact a CIA agent, who worked in Russia under diplomatic cover and was returning from a mission on the night of the attack, the spokeswoman stressed, adding that the agent apparently tried to escape recognition.

She also said that information about the ‘diplomat’s’ allegedly broken shoulder reported by the Washington Post report is also false and was disproved by a video presented by the US side to the Russian ministry.

Zakharova also emphasized that it is the US that asked Russia to provide security for its embassy and send police to guard it. “Moreover, they [the US] regularly ask us to enhance [the embassy’s] security,” she added.

The ministry’s spokeswoman also expressed “regret” over “Washington deliberately souring the bilateral relations particularly by provocations and disinformation,” stressing that such policy “will not lead to anything good.”

The Washington Post report came just a day after Russian Foreign Ministry slammed another article by the US newspaper that claimed that “Russia is harassing US diplomats all over Europe.” It’s the Russian diplomats who are being pressured, not the other way around, the Foreign Ministry said, blasting the article.

Washington Post Lies to Justify Intervention in Venezuela

April 14, 2016
EXTRACT
... the U.S. public has grown weary of their government’s imperialist adventures, which as of late have ended in utter disaster. Washington elites know they must first fool the public into believing that intervention is a necessity. To accomplish this they turn to private media outlets and their editorial boards, who help drum up support for U.S. intervention in foreign countries. Enter the latest example: a recent editorial by the Washington Post entitled: “Venezuela is in desperate need of a political intervention.”

Breedlove’s war: Emails show ex-NATO general plotting US conflict with Russia

Published time: 1 Jul, 2016 20:09
Edited time: 1 Jul, 2016 20:10

Hacked private emails of the US general formerly in charge of NATO reveal a campaign to pressure the White House into escalating the conflict with Russia over Ukraine, involving several influential players in Washington.

The emails, posted by the site DCLeaks, show correspondence between General Philip M. Breedlove, former head of the US European Command and supreme commander of NATO forces, with several establishment insiders concerning the situation in Ukraine following the February 2014 coup that ousted the elected government in favor of a US-backed regime.

[Wesley] Clark, who commanded NATO during the 1999 war in Yugoslavia, reached out to Breedlove in April 2014. On April 8, he forwarded “intelligence” obtained by Anatoly Pinchuk and Dmitry Tymchuk, activists close to the new regime, claiming a Russian invasion was in the works.

The information was conveyed by Phillip Karber, an ex-Marine and president of the Potomac Foundation, whom Clark calls a “colleague” and “our guy.” Karber wrote about observing the Russian border from inside a Ukrainian tank, and eagerly transmitted Tymchuk and Pinchuk’s calls for support. Contacted by The Intercept on Friday, Karber confirmed the authenticity of several emails in the leaked cache.

Reporting on his meeting with Ambassador Pyatt on April 6, Karber wrote: “State is the one trying to be pro-active and recognizes need to do more faster,” while General Martin Dempsey – at that point the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff – was “dragging his feet in order to save [military] relations with Russians.”

In an email dated April 12, Clark referred to his exchange with “Toria” Nuland – the assistant secretary of state for Europe and Eurasia, who personally backed the Ukrainian revolution – pushing for open US support for the regime in Ukraine to use force against protesters in the east. Prior to the coup, Washington had strongly warned Kiev not to use force against the anti-government demonstrators in the city.

Kiev’s
summer “anti-terrorist operation” ended in crushing defeat in August, and the first armistice between the government and rebels was signed in Minsk in September. Meanwhile, the so-called Islamic State jihadist group arose in Iraq and Syria, drawing US attention away from Eastern Europe with gruesome beheadings of Westerners. Frustrated by the White House’s reluctance to back his belligerent agenda in Ukraine, Breedlove reached out to Powell, a retired general and former secretary of state.

“I seek your counsel on two fronts,.... how to frame this opportunity in a time where all eyes are on ISIL all the time,... and two,... how to work this personally with the POTUS,” Breedlove wrote to Powell in September 2014. Powell’s response was not made available.

Breedlove was introduced to Powell by Harlan Ullman, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and the author of the “shock and awe” doctrine used by the Bush administration in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

In October 2014, Ullman urged Breedlove to reach out to Vice President Joe Biden. Aside from Powell, Ullman wrote, “I know of no better way of getting into 1600,” referring to the White House’s address on Pennsylvania Avenue.

In November, Ullman also suggested Breedlove should get together with David O'Sullivan, the new EU envoy to Washington. Noting that Europe “seems to be a six letter expletive in the White House,” Ullman adds that “perhaps quiet collaboration between him and NATO (SecGen) as well might be useful.”

“Obama or Kerry needs to be convinced that Putin must be confronted,” Ullman wrote in February 2015, before the ‘Minsk II’ talks.

He also gave Breedlove pointers on getting into the good graces of Ash Carter, the new Defense Secretary. “I would take or pretend to take careful notes.  Ash is an academic. And he is trained that students who take good notes rise to be A grades.  This may be maskarova.  But it is useful maskarova,” Ullman wrote, misspelling the Russian word for camouflage (maskirovka).  [COMMENT:  Маскировка / Maskirovvka - Russian military deception doctrine, est. start 12th Century - concealment, decoys, dummies, deceptive manoevres, denial, disinformation etc [wikipedia] ]

Washington did approve hundreds of millions of dollars in “non-lethal” aid to Ukrainian troops, including the notorious “volunteer battalions,” in the 2016 military budget.

Breedlove continued to push for more aggressive US involvement, claiming a heavy Russian troop presence in Ukraine – which was later denied even by the government in Kiev. In March this year, the general was telling US lawmakers that Russia and Syria were “deliberately weaponizing migration in an attempt to overwhelm European structures and break European resolve.”

Breedlove was replaced at the helm of EUCOM and NATO in May, and officially retired from the military on July 1. He was replaced by US Army General Curtis Scaparrotti, whose public statements suggest a similar level of hostility for Russia.

Swiss banker whistleblower: CIA behind Panama Papers
Eamon Javers    | @EamonJavers
Tuesday, 12 Apr 2016 | 12:11 PM ET

Bradley Birkenfeld is the most significant financial whistleblower of all time, so you might think he'd be cheering on the disclosures in the new Panama Papers leaks. But today, Birkenfeld is raising questions about the source of the information that is shaking political regimes around the world.

Birkenfeld, an American citizen, was a banker working at UBS in Switzerland when he approached the U.S. government with information on massive amounts of tax evasion by Americans with secret accounts in Switzerland. By the end of his whistleblowing career, Birkenfeld had served more than two years in a U.S. federal prison, been awarded $104 million by the IRS for his information and shattered the foundations of more than a century of Swiss banking secrecy.

In an exclusive interview Tuesday from Munich, Birkenfeld said he doesn't think the source of the 11 million documents stolen from a Panamanian law firm should automatically be considered a whistleblower like himself. Instead, he said, the hacking of the Panama City-based firm, called Mossack Fonseca, could have been done by a U.S. intelligence agency.

"The CIA I'm sure is behind this, in my opinion," Birkenfeld said.

Birkenfeld pointed to the fact that the political uproar created by the disclosures have mainly impacted countries with tense relationships with the United States. "The very fact that we see all these names surface that are the direct quote-unquote enemies of the United States, Russia, China, Pakistan, Argentina and we don't see one U.S. name. Why is that?" Birkenfeld said. "Quite frankly, my feeling is that this is certainly an intelligence agency operation."

Asked why the U.S. would leak information that has also been damaging to U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron, a major American ally, Birkenfeld said the British leader was likely collateral damage in a larger intelligence operation.

"If you've got NSA and CIA spying on foreign governments they can certainly get into a law firm like this," Birkenfeld said. "But they selectively bring the information to the public domain that doesn't hurt the U.S. in any shape or form. That's wrong. And there's something seriously sinister here behind this."

The public relations office for the CIA did not immediately return a message for comment.

Birkenfeld also said that during his time as a Swiss banker, Mossack Fonseca was known as one piece of the vast offshore maze used by bankers and lawyers to hide money from tax authorities. But he also said that the firm that is at the center of the global scandal was also seen as a relatively small player in the overall offshore tax evasion business.

"We knew that firm very well in Switzerland. I certainly knew of it," Birkenfeld said.

But Mossack Fonseca was
just one of a number of firms in Panama offering such services, he said. "The cost of doing business there was quite low, relatively speaking," he said. "So what you would have is Panama operating as a conduit to the Swiss banks and the trust companies to set up these facilities for clients around the world."

Rousseff supporters confront MPs after Brazil congressional committee ‘recommends’ impeachment

Published time: 12 Apr, 2016 05:01
Edited time: 12 Apr, 2016 05:38

A Brazilian Special Parliamentary Committee has voted to recommend the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff in a move that was slammed as an attempted coup by her supporters. They rejected accusations of alleged budget manipulation during her re-election campaign.

The 65-member congressional committee voted 38 to 27 to recommend her impeachment, paving the way for the possible dismissal of the Brazilian president.

The lower house of Brazil's Congress is now expected to vote April 17 on whether to impeach Rousseff. At least 342 of the 513 members of the body need to vote for impeachment for the measure to move to the Senate. If half the Senate votes for impeachment, Rousseff would be temporarily suspended from office pending a Senate trial.

If the impeachment charges stand ground, the 69-year-old who took up the presidential seat in 2011, will be the first to be impeached since 1992. More than two decades ago Fernando Collor de Mello resigned right before a Senate conviction prompted by corruption charges.

After receiving the news of the commission’s vote, Rousseff was “perplexed and saddened” by the result, presidential chief of staff Jaques Wagner announced.

Rousseff is suspected of having broken fiscal laws by shifting government funds ahead of her re-election campaign in 2014, which allegedly allowed her to boost public spending to drive her votes. Rousseff denies the accusations, claiming that she didn’t do anything that was not common practice in all prior administrations. Furthermore, she argues that she has not been accused of a crime which could serve as basis for any impeachment.

Monday’s vote took place amid ongoing protests from both supporters and opponents of President Rousseff. Supporters of the president were quick to confront congressional committee members after the vote. Shouting “putschists”, “fascists” and “no pasaran” (they shall not pass) at the congressmen, they prevented the MPs from leaving the building.

Security forces even built an 80-meter-long metal barricade in front of the congressional building to keep supporters and opponents of the government apart. Brazilian security forces also deployed thousands of troops in the capital city of Brasilia.

As Brazilian society remains split over idea of Rousseff’s impeachment, local newspaper Folha de S. Paulo leaked an audio recording of Vice President Michel Temer rehearsing and address to the Brazilian people if the impeachment process were to move forward. In the leaked speech, Temer speaking as the new president says that Brazil needs a “government of national salvation” to save the country from recession as he called for unity in the political system.

Reacting to the recording, Temer said the 13-minute audio message was recorded for a friend, but was distributed through WhatsApp to other party members “by accident.”

The Empire President: Jeremy Scahill on Obama's "Neocon" Doctrine of Military Force in U.N. Speech

September 25, 2013

In an address to the United Nations General Assembly, President Obama openly embraced an aggressive military doctrine backed by previous administrations on using armed force beyond the international norm of self-defense. Obama told the world that the United States is prepared to use its military to defend what he called "our core interests" in the Middle East: U.S. access to oil. "[Obama] basically came out and said the U.S. is an imperialist nation and we’re going to do whatever we need to do to conquer areas [and] take resources from people around the world," says independent journalist Jeremy Scahill. "It’s a really naked declaration of imperialism ... When we look back at Obama’s legacy, this is going to have been a very significant period in U.S. history where the ideals of very radical right-wing forces were solidified. President Obama has been a forceful, fierce defender of empire."

TRANSCRIPT
This is a rush transcript. Copy may not be in its final form.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: I want to turn back to President Obama’s address at the U.N. General Assembly. During the speech, Obama told the world the U.S. is prepared to use its military to defend what he called, quote, "our core interests" in the Middle East—that is, U.S. access to oil.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: The United States of America is prepared to use all elements of our power, including military force, to secure our core interests in the region. We will confront external aggression against our allies and partners, as we did in the Gulf War. We will ensure the free flow of energy from the region to the world.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: That was President Obama speaking yesterday at the U.N. General Assembly. Jeremy, your response to what Obama said in his speech?

JEREMY SCAHILL: I mean, during this section of the speech, my jaw sort of hit the floor. I mean, he just—he basically came out and said the United States is an imperialist nation, and we’re going to do whatever we need to to conquer areas to take resources from people around the world. I mean, it was a really naked sort of declaration of imperialism—and I don’t use that word lightly, but it really is. I mean, he pushed back against the Russians when he came out and said, "I believe America is an exceptional nation." He then, you know, defended the Gulf War and basically said that the motivation behind it was about oil, and said we’re going to continue to take such actions in pursuit of securing natural resources for ourselves and our allies. I mean, this was a pretty incredible and bold declaration that he was making, especially given what he—the way that he’s tried to portray himself around the world.

On the other hand, you know, he—I mean, remember what happened right before Obama took the stage, is that the president of Brazil got up, and she herself was a former political prisoner who, you know, was abused and targeted in a different lifetime, and she gets up and just blasts the United States over the NSA spy program around the world.

AMY GOODMAN: We have President Dilma Rousseff in her address to the U.N. General Assembly.

PRESIDENT DILMA ROUSSEFF: We are a democratic country, surrounded by democratic, peaceful countries that respect international law. We have been living in peace with our neighbors for more than 140 years. Like so many other Latin Americans, I myself fought on a firsthand basis against arbitrary behavior and censorship, and I could therefore not possibly fail to uncompromisingly defend individuals’ rights to privacy and my country’s sovereignty.

AMY GOODMAN: That’s the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff openly criticizing U.S. spying on her government, the news that just broke from the Ed Snowden releases that was released with Globo newspaper in Brazil by Glenn Greenwald, who is a U.S. journalist who lives in Brazil. And, Jeremy, you’re headed down there for the opening of your film, Dirty Wars, this week.

JEREMY SCAHILL: Right, and, you know, I was there when this story was breaking. It is a major, major scandal in Brazil. I mean, it was such a major scandal that President—the president cancelled her state dinner with President Obama. This wasn’t just like sitting in the Oval Office or something. This is a thing where they create a huge menu, and they invite all these people, and it was meant to sort of secure this relationship of these two huge Western Hemisphere powers. I mean, Brazil is a rising power in the Western Hemisphere, and this was to be a very important moment in the history of relations between the U.S. and Brazil. And for the Brazilians to cancel it just shows you the severity of this scandal. I mean, all around the world right now, in the aftermath of the WikiLeaks cables being revealed, now you have the Edward Snowden documents, people around the world have access to documentation that in some cases is bolstering what people already thought was going on, but in other cases is revealing the extent of dirty tricks that the United States is playing on other nations around the world, and not to mention its own citizens."

COMMENT

Exciting development in Latin America.
Dilma Rousseff and her political party sound good to me.  But they also sound like a classic American capitalist 'enemy'.   Uh-oh.  Look out for the American oligarchy and its CIA machinery.

Note that Brazil is one of the BRICS countries:  thus a challenger to the US-led trade-financial and power hegemony, threatening the capitalist US-led bloc's domination and plans of one world government (capitalist profits, control etc) expansion and imposition on the rest of the world.

Bet the CIA has been up to dirty tricks again.

Check out what they've already done to Brazil!

I've only just quickly skimmed this, the 1964 Brazil coup is in keeping with what little I know of the standard American capitalist order pattern of subverting democracy in Latin America (and elsewhere) and installing oppressive US corporate friendly, US-backed, regimes.
