The diplomat suffered a broken shoulder, among other injuries, but then flown out of Russia to receive urgent medical attention, the author states. The State Department in Washington called in Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak to complain about the incident. The motive for the attack remains unclear, Josh Rogin says. Spokesmen for the both the State Department and the CIA declined to make a comment on the incident or whether or not the diplomat was in fact an undercover U.S. spy. If the U.S. diplomat attacked on June 6 was not a spy, U.S. officials have no other explanation for why the FSB guard was trying to stop him from entering the embassy, the journalist sums up. In his recent investigation into the issue, Josh Rogin states that Russia keeps harrassing U.S. diplomats all over Europe saying that such acts ‘range from the weird to the downright scary’. The PAP Snow Leopard and Falcon commando units and Rosgvardiya's Vityaz unit are taking part in the training, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the site of events on Sunday. "Neighborly relations between our countries are a strategic line between the Chinese and Russian sides. Today, we are beginning a new stage of cooperation. We are glad to have friendly relations with our partner and are ready to carry out common tasks," the chief of Rosgvardiya's general staff, Sergey Chenchik, said. Chenchik's Chinese counterpart said that the two countries' interior forces are holding their third joint exercise and are working to improve mutual understanding and improving security in the scenario of a regional terrorist threat. The units will use equipment such as mortar batteries, Mi-8 transport helicopters and armored vehicles. The National Guard of Russia was formed in April and combined a range of internal security forces into one federal body tasked with securing borders, countering terrorism and organized crime, protecting public order, guarding state facilities and carrying out gun control. The emails, posted by the site DCLeaks, show correspondence between General Philip M. Breedlove, former head of the US European Command and supreme commander of NATO forces, with several establishment insiders concerning the situation in Ukraine following the February 2014 coup that ousted the elected government in favor of a US-backed regime. [Wesley] Clark, who commanded NATO during the 1999 war in Yugoslavia, reached out to Breedlove in April 2014. On April 8, he forwarded “intelligence” obtained by Anatoly Pinchuk and Dmitry Tymchuk, activists close to the new regime, claiming a Russian invasion was in the works. The information was conveyed by Phillip Karber, an ex-Marine and president of the Potomac Foundation, whom Clark calls a “colleague” and “our guy.” Karber wrote about observing the Russian border from inside a Ukrainian tank, and eagerly transmitted Tymchuk and Pinchuk’s calls for support. Contacted by The Intercept on Friday, Karber confirmed the authenticity of several emails in the leaked cache. Reporting on his meeting with Ambassador Pyatt on April 6, Karber wrote: “State is the one trying to be pro-active and recognizes need to do more faster,” while General Martin Dempsey – at that point the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff – was “dragging his feet in order to save [military] relations with Russians.” In an email dated April 12, Clark referred to his exchange with “Toria” Nuland – the assistant secretary of state for Europe and Eurasia, who personally backed the Ukrainian revolution – pushing for open US support for the regime in Ukraine to use force against protesters in the east.
