UK Cameron's Conservatives - Slavery Manifesto to outlaw strikes & picketing without slave-master's say-so

The Telegraph Article - 18 Jul 2014
Tories announce plans for tough anti-strike laws
The Conservative manifesto will contain measures to stop "rolling" strikes and ensure that a minimum turnout threshold is reached before a walkout
By Peter Dominiczak, Political Editor

6:00AM BST 18 Jul 2014
Union bosses are to be stopped from holding “rolling” strikes and will only be able to stage walkouts with the support of 50 per cent of the workforce, under Conservative plans.

The Tories will legislate to ban rolling mandates, with a law that a strike must take place within three months of any ballot.

There will also be a legal requirement for a 50 per cent turnout threshold for any strike ballot to be lawful, ministers said.

The moves would put an end to union powers to hold an unlimited number of strikes based on a single vote that has enabled the NUT to take action three times this academic year alone.

The measures will appear in the Conservative manifesto.

There is currently no turnout threshold for strikes. It means disruption caused by strikes can result from the actions of a relatively small number of hardliners

Unions are also able to repeatedly hold strikes based on just one vote because under the current rules, as long as initial action is taken within 4 weeks of a ballot, a mandate remains live for as long as the dispute continues.

David Cameron last week condemned a strike by the NUT which was called based on a summer 2012 ballot of just a quarter of NUT members.

He said: “How can it possibly be right for our children’s education to be disrupted by trade unions acting in that way? It is time to legislate and it will be in the Conservative manifesto.”
...
As part of the Tory plans, illegal picketing will also become a criminal offence.

NUT walkout: why are teachers striking?

Today, members of the NUT will walk out in a strike that is set to affect thousands of schools across England and Wales – we ask, what's it all about?

10 Jul 2014

Let’s start at the beginning; why are the NUT striking?

According to the NUT, teachers are “under attack” by the current Government. They have been embroiled in an ongoing battle over pay, pensions and working conditions for over two years.

Strikes in the past – including October and June 2013 – have also included teaching union the NASUWT; however, they declined to take part in the last strike in March and won’t be taking part in strike action tomorrow.

The NUT is calling on all members in state schools in England and Wales – and members in sixth form colleges in England – to walk out on July 10.

Anti-strike laws?

What, Cameron's legislating for state imposed worker slavery?

And no 'illegal' picketing?

This affects all unions and all workers, at the end of the day.

Workers should be thankful for union hard-liners, past and present.

If it wasn't for hard-liner union members and unions, pay and conditions for workers would be appalling - as they are in some developed parts of the world.

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague suddenly steps down

Hague Signals End to Rollercoaster Political Life
by Naharnet Newsdesk 20 minutes ago

William Hague's surprise resignation as Britain's foreign secretary is the latest twist in a political career that has seen soaring highs and deep lows.

Now 53, Hague began as a prodigy who first caught public notice when he gave a rousing speech to a Conservative Party conference aged 16.
 ...
Hague made a return to the forefront of politics when David Cameron won the Conservative leadership in 2005.

Named to be shadow foreign secretary as the Conservatives were in opposition, he won back the support of the party base with popular public speeches and confrontations with Labor in parliament.

By the time he was named foreign secretary after the 2010 election, Cameron had already described him as deputy leader in all but name.

Hague led negotiations to form a government with the Liberal Democrats, as the Conservative Party did not win enough seats to govern alone.

Educated in a local state school in Rotherham in northern England before going to Oxford University, Hague was a contrast in Cameron's team - criticized by Conservative Education Minister Michael Gove as containing a "preposterous" number of alumni from the prestigious private school Eton.

In his four years as Britain's most senior diplomat, Hague navigated the upheaval of the Arab Spring, the Syrian civil war, Russian encroachment into Ukraine and increasing skepticism towards Europe in his own country. [NO, U.S. ENCROACHMENT INTO UKRAINE.  LOL.]

Initially seen as a tough eurosceptic at odds with the "compassionate Conservatism" of Cameron's 2010 election campaign, Hague's pragmatic approach to Europe contrasted with the increasingly vocal anti-EU wing of his party.

By 2011 he was accused by a prominent Conservative eurosceptic as having gone soft on Europe, and in January he opposed Conservative rebels who demanded the power to veto EU law, saying the idea was not "realistic".

Writing on Twitter, Hague announced that he would act as leader of the House of Commons until the May 2015 election, when he would leave parliament.

He said he would continue a high-profile campaign against sexual violence in conflict.

"After such a long period in politics I want to embark on many other things I have always wanted to do," Hague wrote on Twitter.

"Renewal in politics is good, and holding office is not an end in itself. After 26 years as an MP time will be right for me to move on." - SourceAgence France Presse

Wonder what that's all about?

Why did he really step down?

So he starts off a eurosceptic but goes then goes whichever way the political wind blows?

Is Hague saying that UK sovereignty not "realistic"? That's how it looks to me.

Now the UK is owned by the EU / US?

Cameron's opportunistic pre-election strategy - sackings for votes

Reshuffle: Ken Clarke out as David Cameron prepares to promote women

Ken Clarke has lost his role as minister without portfolio as David Cameron starts making a series of high-profile sackings as part of his final reshuffle before the general election

6:39PM BST 14 Jul 2014

Ken Clarke has lost his Cabinet post as part of David Cameron’s final reshuffle before the general election.
Mr Clarke, who first became a minister in 1972, stepped down as minister without portfolio after being informed that he would lose his job.
Mr Cameron wants to use his reshuffle to end the dominance of “old, white men” in his Cabinet ahead of the election campaign.
He will promote a series of women including Liz Truss and Esther McVey to Cabinet positions, it is understood.
Mr Clarke waved to the cameras as he departed Downing Street after the decision was finalised.
...
As many as 10 women are expected to be promoted in the reshuffle.

 Ken Clarke

One of Britain's best-known politicians, he has served in the Cabinet as Education Secretary, Health Secretary, Justice Secretary, Home Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer. Since 1997 he has been the President of the Tory Reform Group. He has contested the Conservative Party leadership three times – in 1997, 2001 and 2005 – being defeated each time. Although opinion polls have shown him to be popular with the general public, his pro-European views conflict with the Conservative Party's Euro-sceptic stance. He is the fifth-longest-serving cabinet minister in the modern era having spent more than 20 years in the cabinets of Conservative prime ministers Margaret Thatcher, John Major and David Cameron. COMMENT

So these people were good enough before the election but now that the election's coming:

"Mr Cameron wants to use his reshuffle to end the dominance of “old, white men” in his Cabinet ahead of the election campaign. "

This was a joint decision of the Conservatives and they sound like a pack of slimy bastards ditching experienced ministers, in the scramble to win over:  the liberal votes, women's votes and ethnic votes.

Who would vote for a party that has no loyalty to their own?

Moreover, no loyalty to the 'old, white men' that have served their government well; and no respect for hard earned political experience.

Cameron is such a slime.  What a con artist.

Can you imagine the Conservatives standing by their campaign promises?  Nope.  I don't think so.

If they can't stand by their own ministers, what are the odds of them standing firm on anything.

Sound like a pack of opportunists.
