Resisting Surveillance: it's is not just about the metadata [cccamp15]

"Infiltrators have been uncovered within political mobilisations in the UK, Germany, the USA, New Zealand, Spain etc., showing us that understanding offline security is just as vital as making our hardware and software secure.
No matter how many layers of encryption we use, if our closest companions are infiltrators, sharing our homes, our lives, and our computers, there is nowhere to hide."

[...] so we limit, we limit ourselves to the hardest cases, the hardest publishing cases that no-one else can publish.  So that means, non-public censored documents, of political, diplomatic, or historical significance.

OK, so, a sort of feeling for what we're doing.

What is the impact?  Not on individual nation states, but the impact in the media. This is something you can measure a little bit.  Other stuff's a bit harder. And I’ll go into examples.

But, we have caused the publication, or reprinting, of about 40,000 articles, based on our content, in websites that are listed by Google News. So that’s most, but not all, of the mainstream press.

[Just yesterday, I] looked on Google Books search. There’s about 40 something books -- Google books. That doesn’t cover most book publishers, so about 40 to 100 books have, in part, been catalysed as a result of material we have released.

Google hits: WikiLeaks, presently about 670,000. Our four Malaysians here, in comparison: Malaysia Insider has about 46,000. And blog references are 92,000.

Now, guys.  I’ve been censored.

[audience laughter]

Speaking of which, in this crisis that is occurring in the United States with journalists: a journalist who is fired is one hundred per cent censored.
[Thanks. OK.]

So this map is by Freedom House, this is the global press freedom index for 2007, the green is what -- Freedom House is an independently funded --

OK, Freedom House is an independently funded arm of the United States government. So, it does have a little bit of a bias, but it also has some good people. So, within the US prism of how it looks on the world, this is an accurate map.

So, green for the so-called 'free press countries.' Yellow, for partly free (that includes Malaysia). And grey*, not free.

So you see, in fact, even according to Freedom House, most of the world is not free from censorship.

Now, of course, from my -- you’ll hear from the stories I’ll tell you, that this green is a complete illusion. An entire illusion.
What has happened is that there has been a privatisation of censorship in the green countries. It’s no longer direct state censorship, most of the time, it’s censorship on behalf of private organisations through the courts, and the courts are run by the states. So it’s an indirect form of state censorship when you [...] a major institute privatised [...] the major institutions of your country.

How many people here have ever gone to the front page of the website? May I see some hands? How many people haven’t?

OK, so this section is not completely useless.

So, this is what you will see if you go to the front page of the website: This is WikiLeaks. We help getting the truth out.

If you then scroll down you’ll see on the right-hand side recent material that we have released, or that has been censored and we have uncensored it.

On the left-hand side, is news reports that have been caused by the material on the right-hand side, so information catalysed in the mainstream press. Sometimes including press, and sometimes articles that we have written ourselves -- if no one else is picking it up.

[00:05:01]
OK, so, just looking at something recent, we released this week. The UK MoD Manual of Security Volume 1,2 & 3, Issue 2 -- 2,389 pages -- all classified.

So, this manual is interesting. Not -- I mean, you guys are probably interested in security. But it’s interesting for another reason, because it shows that the corruption -- the moral corruption inside the UK military -- is documented.

This manual refers to investigative journalists about 13 times.

What are the biggest threats, the biggest leaking threats?

The kind of security threat, is what military security is really concerned about: is information being disclosed.
Their biggest threats is not the Russians, is not the Chinese; it's investigative journalists.
And why are they concerned about it? Because it might embarrass the government, or might embarrass their departments.

OK. So, now, looking on the other column, you can see mainstream press that has picked this up. This was front page of the Telegraph earlier this week, a newspaper in the UK.

MoD how to stop leaks. Document is leaked.

But I encourage you to read all the 2,389 pages and don’t just rely on the Telegraph story, because you'll get a very different perspective.

So you can follow the link to the Telegraph. There it is.

And how do people tend to use the site?

Journalists tend to use the site on a day-to-day basis.

Well, in fact, nearly all the stories we catalyse we do not have time to cut and paste and stick in here, it’s just impossible.

So, to some degree we are victim of our own success, although I should say the project is very embryonic. We're two years in, but I think we're only 10% in to what we're trying to achieve.

So, yes, it has been quite successful. But we are very embryonic. It's still a proof of concept. It’s showing a lot of good effect, but there’s still a lot of work to do.

So, you will notice here. So, to catalyse a point -- you can have a look at news, blogs, and twitter -- so this is where in fact you will find most of the media pick up.

And this is from earlier today, and you can see there tends to be something every few hours catalysed in the mainstream press, based upon what we have released.

This is blogs. This is the best blogs search, by the way, is IceRocket. And this is Twitter. Often you’ll see stuff here before you see it in the mainstream press. People are just starting to [...]

And, OK, there’s one more: PressDisplay as well. This is actually a big organization that scans the front pages and pages of newspapers across the world and puts them online. They charge you to actually buy chunks, but you get one, or something, a day free.

And so you can see this is what has been happening this week [...] in relation to events in relation to the Telegraph, MoD.

And sometimes we will write our own material.

So this MoD document looked at getting travel advice to UK spies about going to China and Russia, what do they need to look out for when they are in those countries.

OK, so this is --

Fun checking this out.
Think I could get right into checking out all this early material ... if only there was enough time in the day. lol

Thanks to the blogger who did all the hard slog transcribing.

I've listened and edited the output.  So what's posted here is after I've arranged things as I want them, having made the occasional adjustment.  But there's a couple of missing bits.

The audio isn't as good as it could be and the early Assange speaks too quickly, so I think I might just listen to the rest of these segments without trying to get them down word for word.

Is Obama the Worst President Ever?

by Dave Lindorff

Obama is on track to go down in history as one of the, or perhaps as the worst and most criminal presidents in US history.

He started out, campaigning in 2008, as someone would would restore the rule of law in US international affairs and here at home after eight years of criminality during the Bush and Cheney administration, as saying he would end America’s wars and bring back an era of international cooperation and negotiation, and as saying that he would confront the dire threat of global climate change.

On the basis of that promise, he won a dramatic election victory, raising hopes across the country and across many voting blocks. On that basis, he was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize — the first time the award was given before anything had been done by the laureate being honored. And on the basis of that promise, people expected action on climate change.

Instead, the president began backpedaling almost instantly. Instead of restoring the rule of law, he almost immediately announced that he would not permit his Justice Department to engage in any prosecutions of CIA, FBI, military of Bush/Cheney administration personnel for violations of international law or of US law. He introduced new secrecy rules, launched a record number of prosecutions of government whistleblowers, including an international manhunt to arrest or kill NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden which included the forcing down of a presidential aircraft carrying the president of Bolivia, wrongly suspected of flying Snowden from Russia to that Latin American country, and a secret espionage indictment against Wikileaks founder Julien Assange, who has thus been trapped for years in the little UK embassy of Ecuador which has granted him asylum. And most egregiously, Barack Obama, sabotaged the first international meeting on climate change held in Denmark, and has ducked every opportunity to have the US lead on reaching an international agreement to seriously reduce global carbon emissions.

During the three Congressional electoral cycles and his re-election campaign in 2012, Obama studiously avoided pressing on any of these key issues, and especially on climate change. His position: “all of the above”, for energy development, has seen the US move, not towards carbon emission reductions, but towards expanded production of gas, oil and even coal extraction, making the US the largest oil producer in the world, and a major provider of dirty coal to both US electric companies and large coal using countries abroad, including China.

Now we have this flimflam artist up in Alaska, talking about the crisis he has helped worsen, calling it an existential issue. And yet even as he speaks, the Shell Oil Company is towing a giant oil drilling rig up to the Arctic Ocean, thanks to an Obama administration permit, to begin drilling for oil in the shallow waters north of Alaska — drilling for yet more oil, that is, even as the world is facing a glut of the stuff, in a delicate region that would be devastated by a well blow-out, because ice would make containment an impossibility.

Future generations of Americans will surely look back at President Obama as not just a con-man, but as someone who blew several trillion dollars on continued wars around the globe, as someone who terminally destroyed the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, instead of rescuing these documents as promised, and as the president who, when given the last real opportunity to reverse climate change, ducked the challenge and pandered to the corporations that selfishly wanted short-term gain over long-term survival for humanity and the biosphere.

There are plenty of other criminal acts by this president to consider. On his watch, this first African-American president allowed an increased national police to become a fully-armed occupying army across the country. No American today is safe from abusive police who make up crimes and ignore the law at will, but paying a uniquely terrible price are African-Americans and other people of color, who once gave this president 90% of their votes or more, but who now are being gunned down with a grim regularity by mostly white cops who fire at the slightest provocation, even at unarmed kids. On his watch too, young children, fleeing US-caused gang violence in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and elsewhere in Latin America, have been sent back to their home countries illegally, or held in prisons in this country in violation of direct court orders. He also ordered his Justice Department not to prosecute the criminal bankers who willfully destroyed the US and the global economy to profit themselves and their institutions.

This president, let’s be clear, has not just been incompetent and gutless. He has been a slick political fraud and both a common and a Constitutional criminal. In a just nation of engaged citizens, Obama would already have been impeached for any number of serious crimes, beginning with the failure to prosecute known war criminals of the Bush/Cheney administration, including the president and vice-president themselves.

That’s not going to happen, because this is not a just nation of engaged citizens.

But there will be a reckoning. History will judge this president harshly, as it has judged criminal leaders of the past, from Rome’s Nero to Italy’s Mussolini or Uganda’s Idi Amin. It may strike some as hyperbole to put President Obama in league with such universally acknowledged monsters as these, but when human beings begin dying by the millions because of climate-change caused famines, floods, droughts and international armed conflicts we will surely look back at the actions and inactions of this particular president, who had the opportunity to make a huge difference and chose not just to do nothing, but to make things worse, and will say his crimes perhaps exceeded theirs.

Thank you. Thank you.

Everyone hear me OK?

I am a writer, really, now by profession, so I can be very softly spoken.

So, if I start speaking too softly, please just go like this [gestures].

I know you're an Asian audience, but you can still do it.

[audience laughter]

OK. So, I just had this lovely introduction here, but perhaps some of you should know a little bit more about my background and my involvement in this.

So, I was a famous teenage computer hacker in Australia, a long-term activist, and I'd been reading generals' e-mails since I was 17.

After some famous cases, where I had a magazine that I wrote, I was involved in a court dispute in Australia (6 years in court), I went on to do other things.

I wrote books, I did documentaries, and lots of human rights work, lots of photography work. Some of you may know Strobe where I invented parallel port scanning [here]; if you're using [???] , you're using my code; [???] ... or anything like that.

But after a while I decided I would go and do something else.

And, so, I entered into the academy, into the ivory tower, and started to do theoretical physics. And what I though I would create was a world that was mathematically pure for myself, that had a good history, a good intellectual history, and possibly a good intellectual future. And it was in some way honest work.

But what I found, being an academic, was that no part of the economy anywhere in the world is isolated, including the highest part of the ivory tower. That, in fact, at the bottom of every ivory tower rests corrupt money, rests bodies of people killed in war.

And, in my particular case, I found that the quantum cryptography group ... in Australia was being financed by the National Security Agency; that the applied mathematics group, in Australia, was designing mathematical models to build an enhanced versions of the Grizzly Plow, that's a high-speed military bulldozer designed to bury people alive.  And many more things like that.

So, not even in this highest reach of the ivory tower can you avoid the fact that the world is completely connected.

When government is illegitimate, the government tanks[?] everything beneath it:  every aspect of the economy; every person in the country; including, those most removed (including, pure mathematicians).

In fact, if you look on WikiLeaks you'll see an article I wrote analysing 3,600 academic papers that had been financed, overtly or covertly, by the National Security Agency.

Google for MDA904, the grant code used by the Maryland Procurement Office, a cover name -- a light cover name -- for the National Security Agency.

Google for grant code MDA903 -- a cover code used by the Defence Intelligence Agency -- [which] funded many, many of so-called 'pure papers' of academic research.

The CIA has funded papers (supposedly by anthropologists and people interested in stress), covertly, to determine the most efficient way to torture people.

Nowhere is free from the illegitimacy of corrupt -- morally or financially corrupt -- government.

So, having discovered this, and also having many journalistic friends and activist friends, we decided to do what we could to make government and organisations more legitimate.

What we had seen, as journalists, is that there were two sorts of political reform happening is society.

One:   something that is part of a tide of change, that happens because a new invention is introduced into the society, or a new form of commerce or environmental change that seems to happen anyway, organically, and there's nothing we can do about it. And it may be positive, and it may be negative.

But there are other aspects of reform that don't have to happen. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. And those paths of reform are seeded and created by unauthorized disclosures. A good one-third of the front of The New York Times of any day is built out of unauthorized disclosures.

You won't see it, you'll just see "document seen by The New York Times" or you'll see "a senior official speaking confidentially says -- " something.

And that's really the big driving force for political reform all across the world: is individuals who know of an unjust plan (or an unjust past), revealing it to the population, so all the people in the population can decide to support (or, not support) those people or their opponents. Not just in democracies, but in all countries.

So, what is WikiLeaks? A group of people, activists and journalists, cryptographers, who came together. We call them Sunshine Press. We have a platform on the Internet and our most famous platform, and that is called WikiLeaks.

So, we do something relatively simple. We want to enable information to go out to the public, that is just not any information, but that it has the greatest chance of achieving political reform: positive political reform in the world.

There's a lot of bits everywhere in the world. Some of those bits are special. Some of those bits can achieve something good. And the more bits are in the world, the more the problem becomes:  how do you find those bits which can change our civilization into a better state.

So, we look for an economic symbol -- a colour on those bits -- which is that:  they are restricted. Someone understands those bits: the people who created them. That's who understands them the best. And they have restricted them from the public.

Because they understand that we have materials we release, it makes it harder for them to carry out unjust plans. Because those plans could be opposed. Or, if they have carried out such plans in the past, the anger from the discovery will cause people to take away some of their power.  [OK]

So, to get things to the public you need to protect sources who want to disclose, and you also need to protect your ability to publish in the face of attack.

And, people like to say that the Internet is a place of free speech. Nothing could be further from the truth.

What the Internet has allowed is publishers to publish cheaply, and with that vast influx of new publishers, some of those publishers are motivated to protect what they are publishing.

But, in general, the Internet is the easiest place to censor. You can't take a paper back from the library. Not very easily. But you can do it on the Internet. No problem at all. You can censor commercially on the internet by driving publishers away from your [?]

So, protecting publishing on the internet is not something that comes about as a product of the internet itself. It needs something extra.

We don't publish everything, because there's too much --

Family rejects Air Force's $5.2 million bid for land near Area 51

By Keith RogersLas Vegas Review-Journal

Members of the Sheahan family said Monday they have rejected the Air Force's $5.2 million offer to buy their land and mining claims near Groom Mine, next to the secret Area 51 installation where the U.S. military and CIA have tested spy planes and stealth aircraft for six decades.

[...]

... stake in the combined 400 acres of property and unpatented mining claims is worth considerably more, not counting the reparations they say they are owed by the Air Force and Department of Energy for "abuses and atrocities" that date back to the early 1950s. That's when they said their ore processing mill was fire-bombed by a military jet and their property was showered by radioactive fallout from numerous above-ground nuclear weapons tests.
Most recently, when some family members visited the property in the restricted area 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas — as the Air Force has allowed them to do about once a month — guards held them at gunpoint, including a 7-year-old girl who was "traumatized" by the show of force, Danny Sheahan said.

"It seems like machine guns solve anything on the property out there. That's not the American way," he said.

A Nellis Air Force Base spokesman said in an email Monday that the Air Force "is unaware of any evidence to support this claim."

The Air Force claims the family's activities over the past several years have impeded its efforts to use the range for flight tests like those that have spawned the nation's stealth aircraft at Area 51. The airstrip on the Groom Dry Lake bed, known as Watertown, began operation in 1955 to test the U-2 spy plane.

Nellis officials have said the presence of civilians in the restricted area poses safety and security risks and results in costly delays of flight operations.

"We're interrupting their operations? Really?" Joe Sheahan said. "We didn't parachute into their backyard. They parachuted into our backyard."

The Sheahan's ancestors established mining for silver, lead, copper, zinc and small amounts of gold dating back to 1889. Manning said the family owns six patented claims in addition to 15 unpatented claims that are leased to the Bureau of Land Management.

She said the family's ore processing mill exploded and burned in June 1954 when a jet's wing fuel tank was dropped on it.

The Air Force said the incident was adjudicated in the United States Court of Claims.

Manning said, however, "Our grandparents ran out of money trying to fight it."

Wondering why FBI were at some hippy festival had me wondering if it had anything to do with whatever military testing they do out there in the desert, or whether they simply monitor groups of gathered people as a matter of course.

Well, that was an interesting diversion.

The desert looks beautiful.  The record high temperature doesn't seem all that high, but the lows look really low.

I still haven't figured out why the FBI is conducting surveillance ops, but I feel sorry for the family in the above story.

Look how long the US government has screwed that family over.  They're still waiting on reparations from the 1950s.  And this is a family that settled there in the late 1800s.

The government could easily cut this family a fair deal if they want their land, but they're screwing this family and have done so for decades, while using American taxpayer money to fund wars on behalf of corporate interests and using taxpayer money to bail out corporations and financial institutions.

Disgusting.  Oh, and so is that tacky KFC graffiti that can be seen from space.

Maidan 2.0: Ukraine Rightists Kill Police; Putin Blamed
By Robert Parry
Global Research, September 02, 2015
Consortium News 1 September 2015
Region: Russia and FSU
Theme: Intelligence, Media Disinformation, US NATO War Agenda
In-depth Report: UKRAINE REPORT

As I read the latest example of The New York Timespropagandistic coverage of the Ukraine crisis on Tuesday, it struck me that if these same reporters and editors were around in 1953, they would have cheered the coup against Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh as a popular “revolution” putting the beloved and benevolent Shah back on the Peacock Throne.

Similarly in 1954, these credulous journalists would have written about another people’s “revolution” in Guatemala removing President Jacobo Arbenz and restoring law and order behind well-regarded military commanders. The Times would have airily dismissed any suggestions of U.S. manipulation of events.

And, for decades, that was how the Central Intelligence Agency wanted American journalists to write those stories – and the current crop of Times’ journalists would have fallen neatly into line. Of course, we know historically that the CIA organized and financed the disorders in Tehran that preceded Mossadegh’s removal and pulled together the rebel force that drove Arbenz from office.

And, the evidence is even clearer that U.S. government operatives, particularly Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, helped orchestrate the 2014 coup that overthrew Ukraine’s elected President Viktor Yanukovych. Indeed, journalists knew more about the coup-plotting in Ukraine in real-time than we did about the coups in Iran and Guatemala six decades ago.

In the Ukraine case, there was even an intercepted phone call just weeks before the Feb. 22, 2014 coup revealing Nuland handpicking the new Ukrainian leaders – “Yats is the guy,” she said referring to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who would become the post-coup prime minister – as Pyatt pondered how “to midwife this thing” and Nuland dismissed the European Union’s less aggressive approach with the pithy remark, “F**k the EU!

Several months earlier, on Sept. 26, 2013, Carl Gershman, president of the National Endowment for Democracy (a U.S. government-funded operation that was financing scores of Ukrainian activists, journalists and business leaders), stated in a Washington Post op-ed that Ukraine was “the biggest prize” and would serve as a steppingstone toward eventually destabilizing Russia and removing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After Gershman’s op-ed pronouncement, Nuland and Sen. John McCain personally cheered on anti-government protesters in Kiev’s Maidan square. Nuland literally passed out cookies, and McCain, standing on stage with right-wing extremists from the Svoboda Party, told the crowd that the United States was with them in their challenge to the Ukrainian government. Meanwhile, Pyatt advised the coup-makers from the U.S. Embassy.

The U.S. interference was so blatant that George Friedman, founder of the global intelligence firm Stratfor, called Yanukovych’s ouster “the most blatant coup in history.”

Blatant to anyone, that is, who wasn’t part of the U.S. government’s propaganda team, which included the foreign desk of The New York Times and virtually every mainstream U.S. media outlet. Following the script of the State Department’s propagandists, the Times and the MSM saw only a glorious people’s “revolution.”

Resistance to the Coup

However, ethnic Russians from Crimea and eastern Ukraine, the key bases of support for Yanukovych, resisted the new order in Kiev. The people of Crimea organized a referendum in which 96 percent of the voters favored seceding from Ukraine and rejoining Russia, ties that went back to the Eighteenth Century. When Putin and Russia agreed to accept Crimea, the Times and the MSM announced a “Russian invasion,” although in this case the Russian troops were already stationed in Crimea under the Sebastopol port agreement.

Ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine also rose up demanding independence or at least autonomy from the hostile regime in Kiev. The new government responded by labeling the dissidents terrorists” and mounting an “Anti-Terrorist Operation,” which killed thousands and was spearheaded by neo-Nazi and Islamist militias. [See Consortiumnews.com’s “Ukraine Merges Nazis and Islamists.”]

Although the Times at times would acknowledge the key role played by the neo-Nazis and other ultra-nationalists, that troublesome information – along with the Nuland-Pyatt phone call and other evidence of the coup – would disappear into the Memory Hole when the Times was summarizing the Ukraine narrative or was decrying anyone who dared use the word “coup.”

As far as the Times was concerned, what has happened since February 2014 was simply a glorious “revolution” with “pro-democracy” Ukrainian idealists on one side and propaganda-deluded ethnic Russian automatons on the other, depersonalized and ready for the killing. And behind all the bloodshed was the evil Putin.

The Times reprised its propagandistic narrative on Tuesday in an article by Andrew E. Kramer, who tried to put the best face possible on a violent protest by neo-Nazis and other right-wing nationalists against a proposed constitutional change that would grant more autonomy to eastern Ukraine as part of the Minsk II peace agreement reached last February between German, French, Ukrainian and Russian leaders.

Authorities identified a member of Sych, the militant arm of the right-wing Svoboda Party (John McCain’s old friends), as the person who threw a grenade that killed three police officers, but the Times made clear that the real villain was Vladimir Putin. As Kramer wrote:
“The [autonomy] measure is fiercely opposed by Ukrainian nationalists and many others, who loathe any concession to Mr. Putin and see him as the driving force behind a civil war that has claimed more than 6,500 lives. President Petro O. Poroshenko had conceded the constitutional change, which is included in the text of the Minsk agreement, with a metaphorical gun to his head: thousands of Ukrainian soldiers surrounded by Russian-backed rebels near the Ukrainian railroad town of Debaltseve.

“Supporters of the change say granting special status to the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk would co-opt the rebels’ major selling point, blunting the drive for separatism. Yet the war has angered Ukrainians to such an extent, opinion polls show, that members of Parliament are struggling to win support from voters for any concession.”
While the Times’ narrative paints Putin as the instigator of all the trouble in Ukraine, it also portrays him as a villain who is on the run because his “aggression” led to Western sanctions, which along with lower oil prices, are collapsing the Russian economy.

Kramer wrote:
“Hopes for a peaceful settlement of the Ukraine crisis have been rising lately in Europe as oil prices have sunk, increasing financial pressure on Mr. Putin. With the Russian economy reeling, the thinking goes, he should be more willing to compromise on eastern Ukraine, the source of damaging Western economic sanctions. But that thinking was not shared by many in Ukraine. …

“As Parliament approved the concessions, protesters outside the building scuffled with police, and shouted, ‘Shame! Shame!’ The demonstrators grew more agitated. Some tore helmets from the riot police and threw them on the paving stones. ‘They are trading in our blood and our corpses,’ said a veteran of the war in the east, Volodymyr Natuta, referring to members of Parliament who supported the measure. ‘They sold out Ukraine.’…

“It [the right-wing killing of the first police officer on Monday] was the first death in politicized street violence in the capital since the 2014 revolution … Officially, the Russian government denies having any hand in propping up the two enclaves in eastern Ukraine. But Ukrainians — not to speak of virtually every Western government and NATO — universally reject that, holding Moscow responsible for all the carnage in the east.”

So, having brushed aside the evidence of a U.S.-backed coup and ignoring the role of right-wing Ukrainian nationalists in both overthrowing an elected leader and launching attacks against ethnic Russians, the New York Times has settled on the only permissible view of the crisis: that it is all Vladimir Putin’s fault. Perhaps history will know better.

COMMENT

The corporate press is worthless and politicians are disgusting creatures.
I'm beginning to think that Western governments are criminal organisations, like the mafia or something.  They're criminal gangs.

Maybe someone should refuse them insurance.  lol
