Putin Vindicated: Ukraine Fascists & Potential Ukraine-Jewish Aliyah

JPOST - ARTICLE
Putin says Ukraine being overrun by fascists - and he may be right
05/16/2015
Candidly speaking: Putin, Ukraine and the Jews
The crisis in Ukraine and ‘the new Jewish question
Kiev has now handed the Kremlin "evidence" for Putin’s claim that Russia is facing off against fascists.

As Ukraine continues its battle against separatists, corruption and a collapsing economy, it has taken a dangerous step that could further tear the country apart: Ukraine’s parliament, the Supreme Rada, passed a draft law last month honoring organizations involved in mass ethnic cleansing during World War Two.

The draft law - which is now on President Petro Poroshenko’s desk awaiting his signature - recognizes a series of Ukrainian political and military organizations as “fighters for Ukrainian independence in the 20th century” and bans the criticism of these groups and their members. (The bill doesn’t state the penalty for doing so.) Two of the groups honored - the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) - helped the Nazis carry out the Holocaust while also killing close to 100,000 Polish civilians during World War Two.

The law is part of a recent trend of contemporary Ukrainian nationalism promoted by those on the extreme right to break with the country’s Communist past and emphasize Ukraine’s suffering under the Soviet regime. In addition to the moral problem of forbidding the criticism of Holocaust perpetrators, the law hinders Ukraine’s European ambitions - and validates Russian President Vladimir Putin’s claims that the country is overrun by neo-Nazis.

The OUN was founded in 1929 as a revolutionary organization designed to liberate Ukraine from Soviet rule and create an independent Ukrainian state. Many OUN leaders were trained in Nazi Germany, and the group’s philosophy was influenced by Nazi racial theorists such as Alfred Rosenberg. OUN literature, for example, declared the need to “combat Jews as supporters of the Muscovite-Bolshevik regime… Death to the Muscovite-Jewish commune! Beat the commune, save Ukraine!”

The OUN fought both the Nazis and the Soviets, and many Ukrainian nationalists have argued that the OUN was primarily a national liberation movement. But while the OUN’s core goal may have been the creation of an independent Ukrainian state, along the way its members were responsible for terrible atrocities.

Starting with a pogrom in Lviv shortly after the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union, OUN militias - with the support of the Nazis - embarked on a killing spree in Western Ukraine that claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Jews. After the Nazis dissolved these militias, many of their members joined the Ukrainian Auxiliary Police in German service, where they received weapons-training and became one of the most important instruments of the Holocaust in Belarus and Western Ukraine.

By 1943 the OUN had seized control of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), a Ukrainian nationalist paramilitary group, and declared itself opposed to both the retreating Germans and the oncoming Soviets. Although no longer in Nazi service, the UPA nevertheless continued to target and kill Jews, herding them into labor camps for execution. The UPA also engaged in the mass ethnic cleansing of Poles during this time, killing nearly 100,000 people.
Even after the Red Army pushed the Germans from Ukraine in the summer of 1944, the UPA continued to fight a partisan war against Soviet forces well into the 1950s, before it was finally crushed by the massive power of the Red Army. It is this legacy of sacrifice that explains the Rada’s decision to pass a law honoring the OUN and the UPA.

This law echoes a recent trend of glorifying right-wing Ukrainian nationalist organizations with controversial pasts. Under former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, a number of leading Ukrainian nationalists were honored with a memorial at Babi Yar - site of the single-worst massacre of Jews during the Holocaust. Yushchenko also bestowed the highest government honor of “Hero of Ukraine” upon the controversial former OUN leader Stepan Bandera - a step roundly condemned by the chief rabbi of Ukraine, the president of Poland and the European Union.

More recently, radical nationalists played a key role as “shock troops” on the Maidan, and the anti-government camp was full of OUN-UPA flags and cries of “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!” - chants that originated with the OUN. Currently, a number of OUN-UPA apologists occupy important government positions, including the minister of education, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and the director of the Ukrainian government’s Institute of National Memory. Even Poroshenko has gotten into the act, laying a wreath in honor of the OUN at Babi Yar last year.

The draft law has a number of downsides beyond the moral problem of giving the OUN and UPA a free pass for atrocious crimes. Most obviously, making criticism of Holocaust perpetrators illegal is not compatible with Ukraine’s European ambitions. It is natural that many Ukrainians would wish to define themselves in opposition to the former Soviet Union, but as a budding democracy, banning criticism of any organizations - particularly those with such dark pasts - is the wrong way to build national identity.

Kiev also must remember that its conflict with Putin’s Russia is taking place in cyberspace as well as the Donbass. Kiev has now handed the Kremlin “evidence” for Putin’s claim that Russia is facing off against fascists. Not surprisingly, Russian state-owned media outlets have had a field day condemning the law.

Perhaps the worst effect of this law is the way it would split the country. Eastern and western Ukrainians already possess widely diverging views on recent political events such as the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Maidan revolution. The law would only exacerbate these regional differences. Historically, support for the “OUN-cult” originated primarily in the western Ukrainian regions of Galacia and Volhynia, where they are seen as heroic freedom fighters against Soviet oppression. Eastern Ukrainians, by contrast, grew up viewing these groups as Nazi collaborators to be feared and condemned rather than celebrated.

The Rada’s passage of this law has already greatly harmed Ukraine. It is now up to Poroshenko to mitigate the damage by vetoing it.

Poroshenko signs laws praising Ukraine nationalists as ‘freedom fighters’

Published time: May 16, 2015 01:46

The ‘de-communization’ package of laws signed by Poroshenko on Friday also included a legislation banning communist-era symbolic and propaganda, condemning Soviet government on par with German Nazi regime. He also signed laws that will see the release of Soviet-era KGB archives to public, and scrap the term Great Patriotic War from official use replacing it with World War II.

So there you have it.  Ukraine's glorifying Nazi collaborators & those that have committed other WWII atrocities,  according to Jerusalem Post.  And the anti-Russian West can hardly brush off JPost as a 'Kremlin troll' or a Russian cyberwar psyop.

It looks as though this love of homegrown Nazis is entrenched, as it was former Ukrainian (pro-West) President Viktor Yushchenko that first instigated the formal recognition.  So the love of Nazi collaborators would have been known to USA, UK, Germany, and the rest of the EU-NATO parade of clowns that supported the CIA coup in Ukraine.

Yushchenko was in office 2005-2010 and is supposed to be the Orange Revolution president who was given a dose of Agent Orange (which sounds pretty fitting):
Another murky chapter in recent Ukrainian history involves the 2004 poisoning of pro-Western politician Viktor Yushchenko. His successful run for the presidency that year against a Moscow-backed candidate triggered Ukraine’s Orange Revolution. During the campaign, Mr. Yushchenko ingested dioxin, a powerful toxin that left him in severe pain, his face discolored and bloated. Shortly before becoming ill, he had attended a small private dinner with Ihor Smeshko, then SBU chief.

Ukrainian investigators zeroed in on the dinner as a possible site of the poisoning. Mr. Smeshko, whom Mr. Yushchenko had fired upon becoming president, was interrogated by prosecutors. Mr. Smeshko denies he had anything to do with the poisoning, which remains unsolved.

[Wall Street Journal - here]
Anyway, I thought that was rather a quirky detail.  Although it's superficially interesting, I'm not interested enough to dig through the ins and outs of 2004 Ukraine to get a feel for what may have really been going on.  While I don't believe what mainstream media has to say, I've provided a link to WSJ regardless, for anyone that does want to read what likely amounts to US propaganda about 'Russian sabotage'.

Not sure why there's a discrepancy between the JPost article and the RT News article:  the former reporting that the pro-Nazi Ukraine law has been prepared for signature, while the latter's reporting that the law's been signed into effect (along with a ban on communist-era symbolism and "propaganda" and so forth).

Do that note that the JPost writer is a former USAID project officer, who managed projects in the former Soviet Union.

As I've a poor memory and can only remember a vague USAID and CIA connection, checked to see how USAID is connected to the CIA.

Looks like I'm not the only one checking on USAID as a CIA front:
The following are a couple of USAID articles that discuss the CIA connection.  I'll never remember the ins and outs of the CIA connection, so knowing that there is a connection is going to have to be enough for me in the short-term (unless I force myself to read an endless series of these articles, over and over again, until I finally get it.  No chance.  Too lazy.  Also, CIA is too abstract for me:  it's this thing that nobody ever sees; it seems almost like a myth, although I know it's not.  Anyway, hoping that drip-type tiny bits of exposure, here and there, will eventually get the related information to sink in.  LOL).
CIA Front, USAID, “Spreading Democracy”, Gearing Up in Ukraine – Suharto II?

USAID has a history of working with the CIA as a front operation to help them spread that special kind of “democracy” (read as IMF inspired brutal repression) in nations where we have installed brutal dictators in support of our neoliberal economic agenda.

The murderous history of USAID, the US Government agency behind Cuba’s fake Twitter clone
By Mark Ames
On April 8, 2014

“In a number of countries, including Venezuela and Bolivia, USAID is acting more as an agency involved in covert action, like the CIA, than as an aid or development agency.”

—Mark Weisbrot, Center for Economic and Policy Research

Last week, we learned from the Associated Press that USAID (United States Agency for International Development) — the government agency which manages billions in overseas “humanitarian” aid programs — plotted to overthrow Cuba’s communist regime via a covertly-funded fake Twitter platform.

http://pando.com/2014/04/08/the-murderous-history-of-usaid-the-us-government-agency-behind-cubas-fake-twitter-clone/
I've kind of gone off track here with the USAID diversion, so back to fascists of the Ukraine kind.
Seeing that there's definitely a fascist / neo-Nazi revival in Ukraine, it's interesting that US pro-Israel lobby groups (Anti-Defamation League and the Simon Wiesenthal Centre) have blocked US legislation that would have left Ukraine without US Department of Defence support (ie arms, equipment and training).

This was described as a decision based on 'geopolitics,' but I don't fully understand why organisations that promote what I assume is a Zionist cause are involving themselves in geopolitics.

However, if Ukraine continues to attack the ethnic Russian, pro-independence, population of the east - or if war eventually breaks out between Ukraine and Russia - Israel stands to gain a sizeable additional Jewish population departing from Ukraine, and Jewish population growth is something Israel welcomes and encourages:
Ukraine’s 70,000-strong Jewish community, the world’s 11th-largest, is undergoing what members describe as its biggest upheaval since the Second World War. While most of the country’s Jews live in Kiev, up to a fifth reside (at least until recently) in the conflict-hit east. Convinced they would return home after the fighting ended, many now face the brutal reality of all-out war on Europe’s fringes. Some are resettling elsewhere in Ukraine, while others are immigrating to Israel (an act known as aliyah). The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) estimates that more Ukrainian Jews will make aliyah this year than in the last three years combined. Through September 1 of 2014, 3,252 Jews had relocated to Israel from Ukraine, compared with 1,982 in 2013, according to the IFCJ, which helps foot the bill for the move. In 2012, that number was 2,030. The IFCJ expects to spend some $2 million this year on securing plane tickets to Israel and predicts the number of immigrants could hit 7,000, Yechiel Eckstein, the organization’s founder, told me by telephone from Jerusalem. Under Israel’s Law of Return, any Jew in the world is entitled to Israeli citizenship.

http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2014/09/ukraine-jewish-community-israel/380515/
I'm wondering if increasing Israel's population may be one of the motivators behind the pro-Israel organisations' move to block legislation that would have prevented the US military from providing assistance to the Ukraine fascists.
* PS
Both Israel and US probably stand to gain from war in Ukraine.  Israel would gain a Jewish population boost and the US gets to sell arms, cause Russia grief and divert Russia from other things.  That being so, it would not be unreasonable to expect Mossad to be part of the Ukraine action - maybe stoking things.  So maybe that ambush of Alexei Mozgovoi was a Mossad job?

OK, I'm probably getting a bit carried away here guessing wildly about Mozgovoi's end. But the premise that Mossad would have an involvement overall seems a sound one, given they operate closely with CIA and given the expected population gains for Israel if conflict continues or war is ignited with Russia.

The other pay-off of war between Ukraine and Russia might be that Russia would perhaps be less focused on events in Syria and the Middle East.  I don't know that for a fact, but it seems reasonable that you'd be more worried about your own backyard than goings on in the Middle East if you had a war on your doorstep to deal with.  If so, that would mean the US-Israeli and Saudi sides could maybe finally get the upper hand in Syria and get on with the mission of destabilising Iran.
* PPS

I don't know what I'm talking about.  LOL
I'm just guessing what could happen, but I don't really know enough for anyone to take this seriously.  For all I know, Russia is capable of 'multi-tasking' and any potential war with Ukraine is primarily about weakening Russia economically and politically, in terms of maybe domestic support for the government (which would be a bonus for the West, as the West is bent on getting rid of Putin and installing some puppet that will let them suck Russia dry).

Tempted to delete the rambling thoughts above, because it really is crap, where I'm not referring to news sources, and I'm just taking wild guesses at what's going on.

Will let it stand, although it's rather embarrassing to get this carried away guessing at players and motivations in Ukraine.

The Israel Lobby Protects Neo-Nazis in Ukraine

An amendment to the 2015 National Defence Authorisation Act that would have forbidden US assistance, training & weapons to neo-Nazis and other extremists in Ukraine was dropped at the request of two of the largest Jewish pressure groups in the United States.

Introduced by Democratic Representative John Conyers, the amendment would have explicitly barred those who have offered praise, or glorification, of Nazism, or its collaborators, including through the use of white supremacist, neo-Nazi or other similar symbols, from receiving any form of support from the US Department of Defence.

But the amendment was dumped after the Congress faced pressure from the Anti-Defamation League (‘ADL’) and the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, two of the loudest pro-Israel groups in the US.

Despite their stated mission to combat anti-Semitism and violent extremism, the ADL and Wiesenthal Centre refused to support Conyer’s proposal on the ground that right-wing Ukrainian parties with documented records of racist extremism had “moderated their rhetoric.”

But this is not supported by facts on the ground in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s US supported President, Petro Poroshenko, is leading the nationalists’ dream with a war in the east and Ukraine’s leading party, The People’s Front, is pocked with far-right militants, including Andrei Parubiy, the co-founder of the neo-Nazi inspired Social National Party.

Besides Parubiy, The People’s Front included Andrei Biletsky, leader of the Azov military, an overtly neo-Nazi fighting force that has been on the frontlines of the battle on eastern Ukraine.  Unlike the Svoboda party, the Azov militia does not even feign moderation.

“The historic mission of our nation, in this critical moment, is to lead the white races of the world in a final crusade for their survival,” Biletsky recently wrote.

“A crusade against the Semite-led untermenschen,” an infamous phrase used in Nazi Germany to describe Jews, gypsies and communists.

Azov fighters are united in their nostalgia for Nazi Germany and embrace of open fascism.  Sporting Swastika tattoos, the battalion “flies a neo-Nazi symbol resembling a Swastika as its flag,” according to Andrew Kramer of the New York Times.

Azov is precisely the sort of neo-Nazi organisation that Conyers’ NDAA amendment would have deprived of US assistance.

But when the Congressman sought support from the ADL and the Weisanthal Centre in moving forward, he was rebuked.

The amendment died a quiet death and Azov’s American supply line remained intact.

ADL’s current posture is in stark contrast to its stance early this year when its outgoing leader, Abraham Foxman noted the Svoboda party’s “history of anti-Semitism and platform of ethnic nationalism” and demanded the party renounce its past glorification of Stepan Bandera a WWII era Nazi collaborator, who has become a symbol of Ukrainian nationalsm.

So one minute the ADL is rightfully admonishing the Ukrainian neo-Nazi groups, and the next minute it’s clamouring to give them heavy weaponry?

An ADL lobbyist shed light on this paradox by stating:

the focus should be on Russia,”

making it clear that the ADL’s position is based on geopolitics; not to fight “anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry,” as their mission statement claims.

NOTE

I believe the man in Nazi uniform in the abovementioned video is:

Reinhard Gehlen

rather than Stepan Bandera.
Gehlen was Hitler's eastern front intelligence officer, turned USA / CIA associate, before eventually becoming German intelligence (BND) head.  That's the same intelligence agency that's recently been exposed spying on European politicians and corporations on behalf of the US agency, NSA.

The USA has a history of association with Nazis in the aftermath of WWII, and it appears that Zionist organisations have also had a history of collaboration with Nazis - here.

Finian Cunningham - America’s Weaponizing of Ignorance

America’s Weaponizing of Ignorance

Now the assassination of political opponents who are deemed to be «pro-Russian» takes the Kiev regime to a new level of lawlessness and ideological extremism.
By Finian Cunningham -
Apr 17, 2015
[Originally appeared in:  Strategic Culture Org]
The contract killing of two opposition figures in Kiev this week is stark evidence that the country under the Western-backed regime is descending into a fully-fledged state of chaos and criminality.

We have already seen the rise of Neo-Nazism militarism, and now the assassination of political opponents on the streets of Kiev. Yet, still, the Western governments and their dutiful news media steadfastly refuse to deal with the grim reality. Instead, they continue to regurgitate slanderous aggression against Russia. And when the West cannot cope with explaining reality they simply disparage Russia for telling lies and «weaponizing information». But the truth is that it is the West that is «weaponizing ignorance». Wilful, unabashed, woeful ignorance.

Former Ukrainian newspaper editor Oles Buzina was gunned down reportedly by two masked assailants near his home in the Ukrainian capital on Thursday.

Only the day before, former parliamentarian Oleh Kalashnikov was also murdered at his Kiev home. Both men were known for their outspoken critical views of the ultra-rightist regime that seized power last year with the backing of Washington and Brussels.

Kalashnikov had been a senior member of the Party of Regions – the party of ousted President Viktor Yanukovych.

The latest execution-style killings follow a spate of at least four suspicious deaths among other former parliamentarians who had also belonged to the Yanukoych government before it was overthrown in February 2014 in a Western-sponsored coup.

The new regime has gone on to oversee a state of illegal war waged against the dissident pro-Russian eastern Ukraine regions, as well as teetering bankruptcy, widespread social and economic misery, the rise of private militias under the control of competing corrupt oligarchs, and the systematic glorification of former Nazi collaborators. The formation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which perpetuated mass killings on behalf of the Nazi Waffen SS during World War Two, has been made into an official public holiday in commemoration of that death squad.

Last week, the regime’s parliament in Kiev, which is dominated by openly fascistic parties, voted to ban Communist organizations and to erase all symbols of Soviet-era history. Public statues of Soviet leaders and Red Army heroes who liberated Ukraine from Nazi domination have been obliterated. The regime is planning to spend more than $200 million purging cities and towns of their Russian place names.

Now the assassination of political opponents who are deemed to be «pro-Russian» takes the Kiev regime to a new level of lawlessness and ideological extremism.

For the past year, Western governments and media have persisted in branding the regime in Kiev as a «pro-democracy» vanguard that was endeavoring to orient the former Soviet Republic towards «Western values», membership of the European Union and joining the US-led NATO military alliance.

The Western depiction of developments under the Kiev regime is a stupendous feat of denial over what is really happening in Ukraine. The practice of oligarch-banditry and the surge in Nazi-styled paramilitaries, brashly donning SS insignia and carrying out war crimes against the ethnic Russian population; the indiscriminate shelling of eastern Ukrainian cities and villages under the orders of Kiev leaders; and the economic blockade of the breakaway region in a Nazi policy of collective punishment – all these violations have been comprehensively denied by Western governments and their mass media.

The West’s preferred distortion is to invert reality by accusing Russia of «invading» Ukraine and sponsoring proxy pro-independence rebels in the east.

No matter that there is no credible evidence to support such claims; no matter that Moscow has repeatedly denied the allegations, including this week by President Vladimir Putin in his annual public Q&A conference; no matter that the eastern Ukrainian rebels deny the «Russian proxy» charge; no matter that the monitors of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe can’t find evidence of Russian invasion;  no matter that the head of French military intelligence Christophe Gaumard just this week told his country’s National Assembly that there is no evidence of Russian military incursion in Ukraine, or even plans for such an incursion.

However, with the emergent campaign of murder against opposition politicians and journalists in Kiev, the Western distortion of reality stretches its elastic credulity to breaking point.

Innocent, unarmed civilians are being gunned down in the streets of Kiev for the sole reason that these individuals have expressed political views that are critical of the Western-installed Kiev regime. If that isn’t evidence of the regime descending into the fascist practices that it eulogizes then what is?

Ironically, against this appalling background of Western collusion with atavistic Nazi barbarism in Kiev, the United States Congress this week held hearings on what it called Russia’s «weaponization of information».

Speakers told the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee of their fears that Russia was winning a propaganda war. Their evidence? Well, because reputable Russian news channels, such as RT, Itar-Tass and Sputnik, were reaching Western audiences with an alternative perspective on the crisis in Ukraine. A perspective that actually explains the nature of the Ukraine conflict in a credible geopolitical context of Washington seeking regime change for its wider pursuit of global military dominance vis-a-vis Russia.

Just because Russian media do not peddle an anti-Putin, anti-Moscow narrative – as the Western outlets shamelessly do – then that is construed as «evidence» that the Kremlin is conducting an information war and «weaponizing information».

Earlier this year, US Secretary of State John Kerry told Congress that «Russia’s military aggression is matched only by its propaganda». Kerry appealed for more than $630 million to counteract the influence of Russian news media on the American public by setting up Russian-language satellite TV stations that will beam Fox-News-style into Russia.

Kerry’s chain of thought based on false assertion leading to false conclusion is espoused unanimously among the White House, the State Department, the US media and the two chambers of Congress – the Senate and House of Representatives. In other words by the entire American political establishment.

Last month, the House of Representatives voted by a landslide calling on President Barack Obama to send lethal weapons to support the Kiev regime «against Russian aggression».

One of the Representatives, Republican party member Steve Pearce (New Mexico), had this to say to a concerned American citizen, who had written to Pearce deploring Congressional support for the Kiev regime and the drive for war with Russia.

Disturbingly, Pearce’s letter reveals an astounding dearth of knowledge. He writes:
«Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding Ukraine. I appreciate hearing from you on this issue…

»On February 22, 2014, the Ukrainian parliament unanimously voted to impeach President Viktor Yanukovych, following months of protest. Former President Yanukovych has since fled to Russia – with Russia now challenging the sovereignty of Ukraine. It is very concerning that Russia is acting in Ukraine and not allowing the will of the people to determine the future of the nation. The United State [sic] should stand up, and let it be known that we will not tolerate Russia invading its neighbors. Ukraine has the right to determine its own course».

Note how there is no mention by the Congressman of how the US State Department funded the violent Maidan protests in Kiev at the end of 2013, or how the CIA colluded with Pravy Secktor Neo-Nazi paramilitaries to violently topple the constitutionally elected Yanukovych government.

The concerned US citizen who shared this correspondence, Randy Martin, a social media activist, said of Congressman Pearce’s reply:
«In his response to my letter, he apparently had no clue about the US role in backing the Neo-Nazi coup that has resulted in the overall collapse of the Ukraine economy, a brutal civil war and genocide against Russian-speaking people in Ukraine, and the fact that the US military is now actively training the only standing Neo-Nazi military in the world».

The Congressman – as with the rest of the ruling elite in Washington – evidently lives in a state of blissful ignorance about what is really going on in Ukraine. Yet based on this ignorance, he and his fellow Congressmen voted for the supply of billions-of-dollars-worth of weaponry to the Nazi-adulating Kiev regime – a regime where opposition politicians and journalists are being gunned down in their homes.

Across the spectrum of official American politics and that supposed pillar of democracy – the news media – what we see is «systematic ignorance».

Never mind American claims that Russia is «weaponizing information». America is weaponizing ignorance on an industrial scale.

Great article.

Infuriating reading this.  Guessing this is pretty much what has happened during and after all the previous regime changes the US has engineered.  It's just how it goes and how they spin-doctor what they're doing.
Doubt the politicians or the press are truly ignorant.  More likely they are wilfully ignorant, while serving aggressive corporate and military interests, without regard for the costs to others - simply because they're sociopathic cogs in a sociopathic system that doesn't care who is destroyed in the scramble for money, power, advantage etc.

Quick scan of the OSCE Wikipedia page indicates an alleged 'pro-Russian bias':
It currently takes an important role in the monitoring of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, though it has been accused on mid November 2014 of showing a pro-Russian bias.  This accusation is also based on the fact that one of its most prominent members, currently in Ukraine, Alexey Lyzhenkov, is an ex-official of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, close to Sergey Lavrov.  [Wikipedia]

Moscow accuses OSCE of pro-Ukraine bias
November 14, 2014

Russia on Friday accused the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) special monitoring mission of a pro-Ukraine bias.

“We are concerned about the approach the OSCE special monitoring mission in Ukraine has been demonstrating lately,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“There is an impression that its efforts are aimed at supporting and assisting only one side in the conflict, the Kiev authorities,” it added.

It added that the mission failed to mention “numerous facts” of violations of the peace accord reached in September in Minsk as well as international humanitarian norms in regions under Kiev’s control.

“Its reports systematically give detailed accounts of movement of the military units of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, but ignore the data on military preparations and concentration of attack Ukrainian attack forces along the contact line,” the ministry said.

“They also fail to notice numerous facts of violation by the Ukrainian military of not only the Minsk agreements of the Contact Group, but also international humanitarian law norms, as well as the rampage of neo-fascists and nationalists in the Kiev-controlled regions. They also hush up the cases of Ukrainian security agencies’ pressure on OSCE observers. Such policy of the mission’s leadership undermines trust to its work,” it added.

The Minsk protocol was signed by representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics under the OSCE auspices.

OSCE representative Ilkka Kanerva complained Thursday the mission has been restricted to report only what it sees passing through the official crossing along the “tiniest strip” of the porous Russia-Ukraine border.

With both Russia and Ukraine, alongwith NATO, alleging renewed troop movement on the border, China has expressed grave concerns over the possibility of more conflict.

China on Wednesday urged all parties in Ukraine to immediately implement the Minsk agreement so as to ensure that ceasefire is achieved.

Nato Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Philip Breedlove has claimed the body can vouch for Russian military equipment and Russian combat troops entering Ukraine this week. [Oh, sure.  Breedlove has been gunning for the Russians to justify military spending &, in particular, NATO spending & incursions.]

Even as Western statements are fueling fears of a return to all-out conflict are growing, Beijing reiterated its position at the UNSC, that “a political solution is the only way out on the question of Ukraine”.

Meanwhile, Nato chief Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance has increased its presence near the Russian border. Nato has said it is concerned about Russian humanitarian convoys of trucks that it alleges is taking artillery and supplies into eastern Ukraine.  [NATO the aggressor]

More than 4000 people have died since the conflict broke out in April.

So much for that Wikipedia entry for OSCE.
The exclusion of pro-Ukraine bias allegations (while referring to alleged 'Russian bias' in the OSCE entry on Wikipedia) amounts to a pro-Ukraine information bias in that OSCE Wikipedia entry.

USA Supports Ukraine Neo Nazis

Apparently, USA is funding a neo Nazi puppet government in Ukraine:

Imagine what would happen if the US National Guard were to display swastika-like symbols.

Of significance, the National Guard of Ukraine is directly financed by the Obama administration, with a view to protecting American style democracy in Ukraine.

Unknown to the American public, the US government is channeling financial support, weapons and training to a Neo-Nazi entity.

Nobody in America knows about it because the use of the words “Neo-Nazi” and “Fascist” in relation to Ukraine is a taboo. The have been excluded from the lexicon of investigative reporting. In media reports they have been replaced by “Ultra-conservative” “Extreme Right” and “Nationalist”.

Another entity –which is part of The Ukraine National Guard– is The Azov Battalion (Батальйон Азов). The Azov Battalion - which displays the Nazi SS emblem– (below left) is described by the Kiev regime as “a volunteer battalion of territorial defense”. It’s a National Guard battalion under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Officially based in Berdyank on the Sea of Azov, it was formed by the regime to fight the opposition insurgency in Eastern and Southern Ukraine. It is also financed by the US administration.

Fancy that, eh?

Not the first time the US has supported extremists, or this particular brand of extremist.

US, EU, NATO - SUPPORT NEO-NAZI MURDER SQUADS IN EASTERN UKRAINE

Ignoring Ukraine’s Neo-Nazi Storm Troopers
August 13, 2014

Exclusive: You might think a story about modern-day Nazi storm troopers attacking a European city without mercy would merit front-page coverage in the U.S. press, but not when the Nazi paramilitaries are fighting for the U.S.-backed Ukrainian government and are killing ethnic Russians, writes Robert Parry.

By Robert Parry

The U.S.-backed Ukrainian government is knowingly sending neo-Nazi paramilitaries into eastern Ukrainian neighborhoods to attack ethnic Russians who are regarded by some of these storm troopers as “Untermenschen” or subhuman, according to Western press reports.

Recently, one eastern Ukrainian town, Marinka, fell to Ukraine’s Azov battalion as it waved the Wolfsangel flag, a symbol used by Adolf Hitler’s SS divisions in World War II. The Azov paramilitaries also attacked Donetsk, one of the remaining strongholds of ethnic Russians opposed to the Kiev regime that overthrew elected President Viktor Yanukovych last February.

Yet, despite this extraordinary reality – modern-day Nazi storm troopers slaughtering Slavic people in eastern Ukraine – the Obama administration continues to concentrate its criticism on Russia for sending a convoy of humanitarian supplies to the embattled region. Suddenly, the administration’s rhetoric about a “responsibility to protect” civilians has gone silent.

This same hypocrisy has permeated nearly everything said by the U.S. State Department and reported by the mainstream U.S. news media since the Ukraine crisis began last year. There was fawning coverage of the Maidan protesters who sought to overthrow Yanukovych and then an immediate embrace of the “legitimacy” of the regime that followed the Feb. 22 coup. As part of this one-sided U.S. narrative, reports about the key roles played by neo-Nazi activists and militias were dismissed as “Russian propaganda.”

But the ugly reality has occasionally broken through the blinders of the Western press. For instance, on Sunday, in the last three paragraphs of a long article about the Ukraine conflict, the New York Times reported that the Ukrainian military strategy has been to pound rebel-held cities from afar and then turn loose paramilitary forces to carry out “chaotic, violent assaults.”

“Officials in Kiev say the militias and the army coordinate their actions, but the militias, which count about 7,000 fighters, are angry and, at times, uncontrollable. One known as Azov, which took over the village of Marinka, flies a neo-Nazi symbol resembling a Swastika as its flag.” [See Consortiumnews.com’s “NYT Discovers Ukraine’s Neo-Nazis at War.”]

Actually, the Azov fighters do more than wave a Swastika-like flag; they favor the Wolfsangel flag of Hitler’s SS divisions, much as some of Ukraine’s neo-Nazis still honor Hitler’s Ukrainian SS auxiliary, the Galician SS. A Ukrainian hero hailed during the Maidan protests was Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera whose paramilitary forces helped exterminate Jews and Poles.

Yet, this dark side of the Kiev regime generally gets ignored by the mainstream U.S. media despite the fact that the idea of modern-day Nazi storm troopers wreaking havoc on Slavic “Untermenschen” would seem like a very juicy story.

But it would destroy the white-hat/black-hat narrative that the State Department and the MSM have built around the Ukraine crisis, with the Kiev regime in the white hats and the ethnic Russian rebels and Russian President Vladimir Putin wearing the black hats. It might be hard to sell the American people on the notion that neo-Nazis waving an SS flag and ranting about “Untermenschen” deserve white hats.[...]

Looks like US, EU and NATO will support anything, deceive the public and stand by any regime -- if it serves corporate interests.
