*  BLOG NOTE * 'Blogging', even in a lame fashion such as this, is very time consuming. Even if I maintain an enduring interest in politics around the world, there's no way I can put in the time it takes to keep up on an ongoing basis. It's a shame because I love immersing myself  online and messing around with information. Right now, I'm so addicted to this, that any disruption is a reluctant one. So I'm probably like an addicted gambler unable to move away from the slot machine. Bracing myself for a barrage of abuse for any flippant remarks on here, or for content reflecting my present take on things political.  None received ... yet. It's worthwhile keeping in mind, this is just my bit of fun and is based on nothing more than my current interest and limited knowledge.  :)

The degree of influence that Israel has around the world isn't proportionate to what Israel is:  a small country (populated (largely) by Jewish immigration to Palestinian territory, justified on the basis of an ancestral connection from 2,000 years ago or something like that), that was established by (a) occupation and (b) UN resolution in 1947. As a newbie political spectator, that's what I see. It would be like a group of people, with historic ties, setting up camp in France or Germany or England (for example), and seeking to declare a region within France, Germany or England their country -- on the basis of ancient history. It's doubtful that those countries would be on-board with such a development, yet they support what has happened in the Middle East. It has nothing at all to do with 'brotherly love'.  Sweden's obviously invested heavily in Latvia.  Investment means control.  Looks like Latvia's banking system is Swedish controlled.  But I'm no expert, so it's worthwhile checking if being a 'main player' in banking controls banking. So that's a wrap-up of some of the things that caught my attention regarding Sweden. It's obviously not the entire picture, because I'm only one person and can't keep up with everything that's happening.  And, once again, bear in mind my knowledge base is limited. It's just my current take on things as I encounter them. Further: Bērziņš became chairman of the Privatization Fund of the Bank of Latvia.  He also became president of Latvijas Unibanka (a joint-stock company; 1993–2004).   Bērziņš became a successful businessman and his estate exceeded 1 000 000 lats (by the mid 2000s). He also owned 30 various land properties. Bērziņš worked as an advisor to the president of the SEB Latvian branch and was a board member of several joint-stock companies ...
