Interesting article that goes through a number of what-if Britain exits EU scenarios.
First, will Cameron be re-elected 2015 leading to a referendum?
Among the ideas floated:
- Is being outside the EU more beneficial?
- Will UK become an EU junior partner on exit?
- Will Germany take the lead?
- Is EU a house of cards and will the house of cards collapse?
- What of NATO-US considerations?
I don't know the history of referendums in the UK, but I believe change by way of referendum tends to be difficult to achieve.
I'm just guessing and going by gut feeling, but I reckon that all this 'exit' stuff is a bit of a show designed to gain votes from a public who might otherwise vote for parties that promise an exit.
