CHURCH OF SWEDEN
Incapable of Defending Traditions it Invokes
So much for the Lutheran church defending 'very basic values' that have 'shaped our culture a long time".
In just a couple of look-ups, look how well the Church of Sweden has succeeded in defending Swedish traditions:
- first foreigner Primate of Church of Sweden since 12th Century
- first female Archbishop
- Swedish government banned school graduation ceremonies in churches
- Primate pro church gay marriage

Swedish church critical of the new Asylum Act
Published Wednesday, April 6 at 06:01
"It is the Church's task to defend the basic values'
Asylum seekers are high on the agenda and now takes Swedish Church's position in the debate. Vaxjo pin Bishop Frederick Modéus calls the new bill for "[merciless]".
- I see no other way than to be clear about what the church stands for, and that includes the open arms [to] the people who come here. Therefore, the Church has criticized the proposals that are now located. They are ruthless, says Fredrik Modéus.
Swedish church is one of several organizations that have expressed an opinion on the bill that limits the right of asylum. It is about that Sweden will provide temporary residence permits, have stricter rules for family immigration and stricter security requirements for those seeking protection in the country.
In its opinion ... Swedish church [is wondering], among other things about the government's assessment that asylum situation poses a serious threat to public order and internal security in the country is really true. The church also believes that if the proposal goes through, the most vulnerable in society become even more vulnerable.
[comment: this guy is clueless.
Let him police for a while. Please, Sweden.
And whose society does he refer to?
Mass immigration impacts on the most vulnerable in Swedish society, & they have no voice.]
But the Church's opinion and posts in the public debate has been criticized from several quarters, even internally. Critics think that the Swedish church asylum work will focus on the protection of Christians and give them the opportunity to practice their faith in safety. An open arms all provide asylum seekers with other religions supported by the Christian Swedish Church. And this is not right, say critics.
But for Fredrik Modéus's opinion on the bill on more than religion and the church one belongs. [comment: move to Mecca, since it's all the same]
- It is the Church's task to defend the very basic values that have shaped our culture a long time and that is not obvious anymore, he says.
Read more about the bill. UNHCR has previously criticized the bill.

Fredrik Modéus first year as bishop
Devoted much time talking about the hopes of the Church in the future
Vaxjo On April 12, it is a year since Fredrik Modéus was ordained bishop of the Diocese of Växjö. The first year, Frederick largely devoted to listening and analyzing people's longings and hopes of the Church in the future.
Published April 9, 2016 11:00
Bishop Frederick Modéus has also committed to a humane refugee policy.
- It has been a tumultuous, challenging and great fun year. What has been most important to me is to meet people and try to understand how we can build the church of the future, says Bishop Frederick Modéus of his first year in Växjö.
One of the first Frederick did as the new bishop was to invite everyone who wanted to talk about what they saw as a set location for the Swedish Church's future, on the challenges and opportunities that they looked forward to and longed for. Frederick received numerous letters and emails and talked to nearly 2500 people. After summarized and he analyzed what he received by pointing out five areas that he now wants to focus its energies on.
compassion
Under his first year, he has also become involved in various ways for a humane refugee policy. In October, he pleaded in a call to Vaxjo pin assemblies to lease suitable premises as evacuation centers for refugees. In just one weekend were 570 different locations ahead. On several occasions, the bishop commented on the occasion of the plight of the people who are on the run. He has criticized the government's proposal for temporary legislation to allow more refugees to seek asylum in other countries than Sweden.
- It is a natural consequence of the Christian faith to commit to a medmänskligare world. Many of the diocesan parishes do an impressive job against asylum seekers and new arrivals. Together with other good forces, the church should work towards an open and warm society where everyone has a place, says Fredrik.
Church of the future
During the year, the Bishop also welcomed many of the Bishop's Palace Östrabo, visited the Swedish Church's youth New Year's camp, held devotions and worship in radio, received eight new vicars in the diocese, consecrated priests and deacons, lectured and debated, visited vänkyrkan ILCO in Costa Rica, and more .
What awaits Bishop Frederick Modéus's continued efforts to build the church of the future.
- I've seen so much optimism and met with so much longing in diocesan parishes. My hope is that the coming years will be able to inspire each other and work in the same direction in the issues that we together look so important for the future, says Fredrik.

-- literally translates to: 'with' + 'human' + 'more'
-- no idea what it means. perhaps more 'humanity' (among current buzzwords used in furthering dispossession of indigenous Europeans)
vänkyrkan
